A: be more misogynist to get on that leader board, or
B: go around looking for excuses to be offended so they can get on THAT leaderboard.

The whole thing reeks of an effective censorship program, but one I would not want to see utilized by anybody.
People get too offended as it is, and the fear of offending someone should not stop someone from speaking their mind. (or making a joke)
Both are possible outcomes. There's a third option:

C. The reporter leaderboard encourages people to step forward. The reportee leaderboard acts as a way to let people know what they're doing, and make any adjustments they would like to lower their standing. (Or raise it, I guess.)

I am not implementing a censorship program, although this tool could be used to implement one. (Ban the top 10 leaders from posting for a week, or something.)

The "fear of offending someone" is almost but not exactly what I'm looking to instill. People behave differently when they know that others have the power to record their actions. In this case, however, I'm not building a single entity that rules over everyone with limited-access cameras. Everyone has the ability to record an incident. I don't know if this will result in mob rule or better discourse, but you don't know until you try.

One final note:

Aaron Swartz liked to call himself an applied sociologist. I like to think I'm following in his footsteps. (Way behind, but still on the same path.)

David stop trying to program censorship & which-hunt programs.

Actually no wait.

Do it, the chaos it will cause will be completely delightful!

Well, then the tool can be suggestion number 4:

Things we can do to lessen Misogyny on the Org:
1. If safe, politely speak up when you notice misogyny. (Or any unfair treatment for that matter.)
2. Try not to assume the gender of another editor or fan. (Use names where possible.)
3. Avoid Objectifying women in AMVs. (There are probably more interesting topics to cover.)
4. Use The MisogynopeTool when you see it.
5. Talk about it in your Org Journal
6. Post your experiences in This Thread
7. ...
8. ..
9. .

Once we have a list built, it's a lot easier to internalize. It links everything together and proposes real actions.
And the most important thing: It's easy to follow.

Still writing a longer response to others, but the whole "objectification" is another issue entirely. This thread is about misogyny directed to (and yes, objectification of) women editors.

Misogyny IN actual anime music videos is another issue entirely and one which I'm not dealing with at the moment.

So what you are saying is that Kionon is pro-nazi.

I'm actually just putting the comparison out there so that people can see that it's an absurd, inapplicable one.

I could put up a bunch of Polls on AMVGuide to see what people think?
But the hard part is coming up with a balanced set of questions and answers.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that singling out guys as the only ones who can be sexist is just wrong. If it's not okay for a male to make videos objectifying women, then it's also not okay for women to make videos objectifying men.

Personally, I'm okay with videos of all kinds of fanservice, if it's something I personally don't like then I brush it off as "not for me" and leave it alone/never watch it again.

~~~~~~~
On a side note, but I feel it's somewhat on topic:
I think I remember a couple times where I got comments from young girls thanking me for making videos that they like, but it was as though the "general amv population" doesn't have them in mind when editing or something.
I've also been accused several times (amvnews lawl) for making videos specifically directed towards a girl audience. Thus the boys don't get into my videos as much.
I just find those positions and assumptions on my work interesting and silly at the same time.
Truth is I've never made videos with a gender in mind. I tend to make things that *I* like and if others like them too then woo.
I have, however, made videos with specific age groups in mind.
