It works better if you combine it all into one window, its more organized that way, and you won't have a giant taskbar of orange, especially if you change your notification settings so it doesn't notify.Radical_Yue wrote:I don't see this as a battle and I'm sad to see my attempts to make a bad old person joke fell flat ;_;
But for the love of all that is holy, make it stop.
I've already left 5+ chats in the 2 hours I've been signed on but THEY KEEP COMING BACK.Spoiler :
Skype is awesome and all, but I think I'm going to keep searching for a more organized method of chat that doesn't turn my task bar bright orange nonstop D:

For ease of use, and to also still use what we already have setup, setting up a mibbit widget on an org sponsored page that automatically links people into the #AMV chatroom in IRC could be used. I've been looking into doing that for twiamv livestreams and what not.
You can look into this more here and let me know what ya'll think:

I think this is probably the best solution for now. It allows those of us who prefer to use our own setups to connect to the chatroom and also allows users who want basically one click solutions to also hop in as well.

IRC isn't exactly difficult... There's a browser plugin for it. Doesn't get much simpler than that.

I just have a link in the Links bar of my browser to this: http://mibbit.com/?channel=%23AMV&server=irc.synirc.org
Just asks me to input my nick, and that's it. Easy peezy.

I don't think its as much as the difficulty as much as it is that a lot of people already have skype and are using it regardless of AMV related stuff. It makes it easier to consolidate all their chats into one place/program.BasharOfTheAges wrote:IRC isn't exactly difficult... There's a browser plugin for it. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
Although the mibbit link Brad posted is handy and might entice more people to at least try that.

Re: The New Official but Unofficial Public A-M-V.org Skype g
Why is everyone fighting over "the best single place to chat with everyone"? Why not just support multiple ways for people to chat? There will always be people that will prefer and only use one way to chat, might as well connect ppl on the most popular options. I'm all for having Skype AND irc chats. I don't see the issue, the org already uses multiple ways to communicate with people, such as Twitter and Facebook, why not adopt more ways to chat that are newer amd trendy as well, because lets be honest, irc is rather old and not so poular these days...
