Doing this with words:

Motion graphics --> mograph
frozen yogurt --> froyo
science fiction --> sci-fi

You get the idea. Not the ones where the two words are actually long and I can understand abbreviating them (Retroactive continuity -->Retcon), but the ones that make it sound like there's currently some sort of syllable shortage. For some reason, words like that actually makes me really angry when I hear them. And not in the usual "that's annoying" kind of way, but in an actual "I just had a surge of rage when you asked if I wanted frozen yogurt" way.

Yeah, I'm with you on that one, too. I hate house centipedes. I haven't seen any in awhile (winter yaaaay), but I'm hoping the new cat will take care of them when they inevitably re-emerge. I'll have to train him. Kitty training montage!

Just for the record, those are called portmanteaus.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

Sorta the opposite here, more with the people who use $2 word when a 10c word will do, or when they sound like they're doing a product placement. I also live in the state that "noun nouns" are normal (and I also wish that were a real thing...) so there could be a reason for that

I hate when I'm passing a good time with friends, and other person tries to ruin your day with nonsenseless discussions

Otohiko wrote:One that frequently comes to my mind - talking casually to women who will suddenly and out of nowhere bring up their boyfriend in the conversation, like some sort of defense mechanism. Jesus christ, when every other sentence ends with "my boyfriend" and I only asked what they've been up to lately, it really grinds on my nerves. I don't hate anyone mentioning their boyfriend at all or anything, but there's a very clear line between casually mentioning something and obsessively reinforcing something. It's very obvious to me when I'm being treated as some sort of male on the prowl who could obviously be a threat and needs to be reminded his place. It's not like that happens constantly or anything, but often enough to really annoy me.

There's many counterexamples to that; for example a girl that I actually had a huge crush on about a year ago turned out not to be single, but was completely cool about the way she revealed that information or treated me otherwise. It was good for me to know in that situation, too. There's plenty of genuine ways and reasons why a significant other could be mentioned, and I certainly got no problem with those and would be entirely interested if it actually has to do with the subject of conversation at hand. But it really fucking drives me up the wall when I get those blatant signals in casual conversation for no reason other than the obvious lame one :|
Methinks I can add to this list. Lemme see here...

<rant>

Women who:
-Make no mention of a significant other, flirt like crazy, then when you try to make plans, go the "sure, then you can meet my boyfriend!" route. :evil:
-Only want to spend time with you when they want/need something, like you're their on-call helpdesk or someshit. :evil: :evil:
-Flirt with anything that has a pulse, yet when you pay them a good-natured, completely friendly compliment, or try to show some modicum of affection in the same vein, they spazz out and act like you're trying to get into their pants. :evil: :evil: :evil:
-Pull the above crap, then go out and get blackout drunk on a beach and start dating some guy they shacked up with while there. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
-Try to make a move on you, then get back with their ex, and their version of the story makes you look like the asshole. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
-Friendzone the shit out of you, but continue to whine about every guy they date being a complete jerk/idiot/whatever. :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:
