I never got into the HP books. I didn't get into the HP fandom until way later, after the first film had come out. Then I happened to catch it on my uni's campus channel, playing in the background while I was working on video for class. I found myself compelled to stop working and actually watch the movie. I was really kinda blown away by how good it was, and how good the acting was. I found myself thinking I would pick up the books sometime and give them a read. However, as I was really busy with reading a lot of other stuff for school, I never did. I did keep up with the movies though, and enjoyed all of them to some extent or another, and felt like this was a well done ending to a well done series of films. It's one of those rare cases where something can be so long running and remain well done.
That being said, since I haven't read the books, I don't understand some of the nerdrage my compatriots experienced with say the 3rd or 4th film I think it was, whenever it was they changed directors or something like that. I still felt there was solid storytelling, solid acting, and solid VFX work throughout all the films. Now I'm kinda sad that they're over and done with.
Guess it's time to finally read the books. I know, I know, shame on me for not reading them sooner, shame on me for not reading them then watching the movies, my experience is now ruined. I guess I was just a little too indifferent to HP when it first hit the shelves, mainly because when people hype the hell out of things, I generally find them overrated. Not so in this case.
