1) I have synesthesia. It's a genetically inherited....condition, where basically, unrelated senses affect each other. For example, smelling colors, or hearing them. Mine is more like random association, in that sometimes one stimulus will automatically drive another unrelated one. It varies, but the most common thing that happens with me is that I can see colors when I think of numbers or letters. Each number or letter has it's own unique color, and some have two colors. Something else I do is associate music with random places. When I hear a song, I can envision a physical location. These 99% of the time have nothing to do with the song, but all of them are places I have actually been. And it's not like "hey this song reminds me of..." but definitely "Led Zeppelin - Stairway to Heaven" = the second floor balcony of the apartment I lived in during college. I should also note that I had no clue that I had synesthesia until inthesto and Fall_Child42 diagnosed me on an episode of TYHMG. I promptly looked up synesthesia, and holy shit, I have it. .______.
2) I am highly edumacated. I hold a master's degree in science. It's science instead of fine art due to the strange origins of the program I attended. While it should have been an art program, it sprang up as a technology program due to some grant money. But that's okay, I learned a lot of cool stuff. My focus was character animation. I wanted to work at Pixar, but during grad school that dream changed...
3) I am currently working on a 50~60 minute long (feature length) anime film. The working title is "Akazawa." The story is about a couple of people who experience paranormal things in a small town, only to have them escalate into massive techno-horror-science proportions. The film has two human characters, a couple of side characters (who are basically just torsos), and about 12 different "entities." I currently have finished the script, and am in the process of storyboarding it. The next step will be to convert the small thumbnail storyboards into larger more detailed ones, and make an animatic of the whole thing. After that, I shall purchase about $5000 worth of software (3dsmax, a shader plugin, Adobe Suite) and about $1000 worth of recording gear, and begin the actual production. I can say in all honesty that I have the skill to do every part of this thing myself except for a) voiceover, and b) musical score. Those I will have to commission. You might be thinking "damn dude, that's a lot of shit to do/buy/money/time." Yeah, yeah it is. My current estimate on just the production of it is 5-7 years. Don't really care how long it takes, just know I can die happy if I finish it. Some guys might blow $40k on a car or something, I prefer to use money to create things.
4) I worked in a family owned plant nursery for about 7 years. I love plants, growing plants, gardening, etc. I love nature. I'm going to eventually buy a house just so I can have a yard to plant full of interesting plants.
5) I (need to) build movie props. In addition to my animated film, I have written a couple of live action screenplays. I've built some...interesting things for several of them, and I have about 20 cardboard boxes full of random junk that I will eventually make shiny mad science items out of. Need house so I can also have a shop.
6) I don't really like money. Unfortunately I need it to buy things to use to create cool shit with.
7) I hate corporations and bureaucracy, yet I work at a company that is rife with it. You know, to get money to buy things to use to create cool shit with.
8) I constantly have story and character ideas. So much so that I usually carry a notebook and a flash drive around with me to capture them. I have a giant folder full of story ideas, script ideas, art ideas, novel ideas, you name it. I also have several large file boxes of notebooks and folders, full of almost everything I drew or wrote when I was a kid. I'm now starting to take a lot of these to completion, "Akazawa" being one of them.
9) I'm a pretty famous graffiti artist. But like Banksy, I will remain anonymous :O (I'm lying. I really like street art though.)
10) When I graduated college I couldn't find full time work for a year. I worked at the greenhouse in the meantime. I remember thinking "you know, I'd really like to move to Raleigh NC. That place is pretty happenin for a small city. There are lots of smart people there too." And now, 5 years later, and after living in 3 states and being laid off from the same company twice, I'm now living in Raleigh, and still working for the same shit company. But I really fecking like Raleigh
