This Thread Is For Gentlemen

Postby Athena » Mon Feb 07, 2011 12:34 am

Salutations, my fine fellows. In this thread, we discuss gentlemanly discourse.

I shall commence these proceedings on the subject of American Presidents. I am partial to John Fitzgerald Kennedy, a true giant among gentlemen:

I prefer Robert Fripp.

But you all knew that.

The jury is still out on whether Teddy Roosevelt and the Most Interesting Man In The World are really the same person, but there is a different honor we already know for a fact.

(It also doesn't hurt that my political views are almost entirely a modernized form of Bull Moose Progressivism, but that's beside the point)

I shall direct your eyes to my forum signature, good fellows. That, as they say, is all.

Slaping women, and not bothering to procure a belt is not very gentlemanly.

Only if you wear a hat.

Wearing a hat is gentlemanly.

Slapping women is ONLY gentlemanly if done in private, and at the request of the lady in question.

There are fine books that direct interested individuals to establishments where ladies enjoy such frolicking, but such books are only discussed inside of club rooms, with a fine aged scotch. Not in public forums.

I was referring to the first line, chaps. Although, whilst sporting the finest of hats failure to procure a belt is acceptable.

Either because of the use of suspenders, or because of a fine fitting pair of slacks. In those cases, and those cases only, may a belt be dispensed with.

Sagging is ungentlemanly conduct. Full stop.
