I used to repair Xboxes for side cash up until last Sept, then I gave away my tools to my cousin when I got my current job.
My recommendation: Get an xbox slim.

It's one of the new-ish ones, but still 3+ years, so outside the warranty. And yeah, I actually really wanted to get a slim when they first came out, but obviously it didn't make sense. Once I can afford it, at least I have a reason to now
