Should we start calling you Dr. Al Candidate then?

I am very much pleased with the 30 degree drop in temperature between yesterday and today.

Nah, it's fucking hotter today than it was yesterday. Yesterday I rode my bike for some exercise for 40 minutes and although it was hot, it was doable. Today I jogged a few blocks and almost dehydrated.

Blasted the Chrono Trigger theme when I got into the parking lot at work today and my coworker laughed her ass off. She asked me if it was from Lord of the Rings, but I explained it was from a video game. :ying:

I'm slowly developing some kind of silent rebellious corporate clown attitude and it feels AWESOME.

So far I'm the only one in my office who has Sailor Moon and Macross posters on my cube with a Rainbow Dash pic on my name plate. It's kind of hard to be rebellious in a company full of geeks, but I'm working on it. Especially considering the conversations we've had about Tentacle Porn and Furries, I'm almost sad at how 'normal' I appear amongst the rest of my co-workers. Actually, my boss keeps asking for clarification on these topics and I'm the one who has to explain them... very graphically... I'm rather suprised I haven't been written up yet... but she's the one who asked :awesome:

I just bought my first laptop =D
Normally I would buy a desktop instead, however I am currently saving for a really good one to do my graphic work on, and of course editing =P

But my sister came home yesterday with a new laptop from best buy and got a free XBOX 360 with it! She ended up selling her freebie to her friend for 100, so I decided that I wanted a free XBOX 360 too ^^. That and I am in need of a laptop for my business anyways. So I got one! It was on sale for 449 or something, its pretty good-ish:

AMD Phenom ll Quad-Core Mobile Processor P960 (1.8 GHz)
640GB Hard Drive
4096MB DDR3 SDRAM
LightScribe DVD Optical Drive/ Windows 7/LED stuff and Bluetooth junk... blah blah

It would have been nice to have at least a 2.0 but all in all for what it will be used for it was a good deal for me, plus the freebie. Now I just need to buy Halo and learn to play online with my boyfriend =D In total with Norton Anti-Virus (I like it) it came to 698-ish I think, I'd have to double check my receipt. Plus I can write it off in tax time for business use so total plus ^-^!!

If any of you are looking or wanting to buy a nice laptop and get a free XBOX 360 and have a Best Buy near you check it out! I am not sure how long the sale will be on, and if it is available in all areas that have Best Buy, but you never know. The sale goes on till the 16th of June :3!

Eww...norton
get that s#^% off of there before it explodes

also, you probably wouldn't notice the extra 200 MHz, the much more important part of that is that it's a quad-core (and Phenom II)

Prolly not =D,
and poor Norton, no one likes him. My sister uses some free thing she gets off the internet MacFee or something. I haven't ever had any troubles with Norton, I've used it for 6 years or so now and have never gotten a virus/worm from it.. I don't suppose you or by chance anyone else has any other options for Internet/Virus Protection that "does" work... whether its free (always suspicious of free programs) or not?? : )

Avast! Antivirus (free or paid)
F-Secure
ESET NOD32
Kaspersky
Avira

...pretty much anything not Norton. Detection rates should be marginally better, but the thing is Norton has a bad reputation for messing up computers (and hasn't been able to remove jack s^*# in my experience). It might've gotten better, but years of mediocrity still leave me extremely weary.

At any rate, just remember that in the end a system is only as secure as the user (which in most cases isn't very secure)

Avast!, AVG, Avira and BitDefender all have legitimate free versions, and I personally use Avast! Free

As for free solutions that keep stuff in shape:

ZoneAlarm (free)
Firefox + Adblock Plus + Adblock Plus Popup Addon + Flashblock
SpyBot's Immunize feature
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
CCleaner
Defraggler

Or any myriad of Linux distributions, which don't need any of the above (except the Firefox extensions). That means an entirely separate operating system, though. But if all Internet browsing/downloading/etc. is done in Linux, with a connection-disabled* Windows for everything else (or even just specific things, like games), then yeah.

*The connection only getting enabled for certain things that need it, like program/system updates or other types of connectivity that games or communications stuff might need.
