Haven't heard that but I suppose any drug abused to a certain point could potentially cause deadly withdrawals in one way or another.

I probably don't drink as much as those people. Not sure what the fuss is about, I said I can't help but put some crown in my coke whenever I drink it cause I liked the flavor and whatnot, that's why I'm not sure of it as an addiction.

Evafan: You should talk to your doctor about quitting alcohol - it will be the best thing for you, your liver, your wallet and your brain in the long run. Alcohol is a terrible shitty drug that does nothing good for you and will only consume more of your life if you continue to abuse it like this.

Poor Evafan :(

He hasn't been taught about the effects of alcohol at all because the American government is not about having a healthy, well functioning populous of rational humans. They wouldn't go off and fight in bullshit wars to spread "freedom" if they weren't drunk off their asses and happy enough chasing their next six pack. The government spends thousands of dollars to indoctrinate you to their way of life at public school and it is my and others opinion that schooling is useless for everything but learning how to get laid and buy drugs. What exactly makes you think they want you to know the truth about recreational substances that could help you expand your perception of yourself and life? Why would you believe their lies if you took psilocybin mushrooms and laughed your ass off at the 6'oclock news trying to scare you into buying a new alarm system with yet another tragic kidnapping/burglary/arson story!

The two drugs that are legal and sold everywhere will kill your ass DEAD if you abuse them. They are both poisonous to humans in large doses. This sets off warning bells for me. How about you? People actually think they should trust the government and that it cares about them when this shit is legal? Really? Damn, if only I could be that wilfully ignorant and not feel immense psychic distress. I mean, I know I'm ignorant of a lot of things - but I can't be ignorant of this.

We need to start educating people about drugs so they don't take a laissez-faire attitude towards them and end up an addict who isn't even self aware enough to admit it to himself like Evafan here. The damage alcohol does to us as a species every year is tantamount to government assisted slaughter. This is slaughter they collect millions in taxes off and advertise after the kickoff at football games. What loving, compassionate, empathetic person could do this to his fellow man? He must be ruled by fear, and dimly unaware of love's light and truth. What loving, compassionate, empathetic citizenship puts up with the government feeding us this bullshit? Most of us.

Then again, alcohol and nicotine kill more people per year than suicides, murders and car crashes ever will. So, IMO it's hard to imagine the government giving up a profit stream as consistent and addictive as tobacco and booze just because it's killing off a few of their workers. They're a company just like any other.

If your drinking is getting to a point where you feel out of control, you have been drinking on a daily basis for 3+ months, or you are going out of your way to procure booze so you don't run out you are on your way to developing a dependence.

Hmmm. . .this might be why my husband told me not to quit drinking altogether and just cut down/ween myself off. >.> But yeah, this is part of my New Years resolution as well. Especially since I will probably have to quit altogether for a while by the end of the year. . . :uhoh: (Will be trying to have kids >.<) Anyway, Eva, we can do this!!!! We just need a FIGHTING SPIRIT!!!! *^_^* :awesome:

my new years resolution (other than to loose weight) was to not mix my alcohol, i.e. - if I start with beer, stick with beer. if I have liquor, don't start a beer bong... no matter how free they are :uhoh:

All this serious business is kinda funny though cause I go a whole day/work weeks without drinking coke some times and other days I'll drink like 2-3 cans (This is only on days off work). I just intend to drink less (and put less crown in per glass) for the reason NME said, my liver.

It's quite a relief to see that you're going to be reigning in your drinking. If you can keep your drinking moderate, more power to you. IMO poisoning yourself to relax is the height of idiocy when cannabis is non-toxic and more effective at anything alcohol does that is enjoyable or positive as a drug. Then again you live in America and even I wanted to drink when I was there just to shut out all the suck of the soulless 8 lane highway that cuts a swath across the lower 48. It's that bad.

However, the reality of the situation is that college and university binge drinking culture costs our species lives and minds and is exported the whole world over in American media. Alcohol is a caveman drug that belongs in the past. If we want our species to move forward we are going to have to stop our wide-scale use and championing of alcohol as a beneficial substance. It does nothing for your creative abilities. At best it will amplify your emotional state slightly and put you into a shallow, flirtatious, overly sexual state of mind that is only concerned with base impulse gratification. This behaviour is good for dancing, having fun and fucking, but that's about it. And even then, alcohol is a depressant so why would you want that shit in your system when you're trying to have a good time? Do you turn down the volume when you really like the song you're listening to as well?

This drug is a social evil in spite of all of the cultural "good" we think it does. Most of that cultural "good" is only social tradition and practise. A government that pushes booze on its citizenry instead of non-addictive, helpful, natural vegetables such as cannabis and psilocybin mushrooms is purely doing it to control its populous and keep them afraid of drugs in general. The population uses alcohol, gets addicted and has to work for their living. The population experiences a slight case of alcohol poisoning and mis-attributes those terrible feelings to all drugs and their use. This is how your brain works whether you like it or not. Think about all the poets, artists, musicians and entertainers who hit the bottle a bit too hard and left us too soon because of it. Think about all those artists and what they could have been if they weren't drinkers ruining their bodies with a poison that screws up hearing, vision, and general body function!

We have been lied to for long enough and our acceptance of this government enforced drug is doing nothing but hurting us and making us more profitable piggy banks for the state to pluck off the side of the road and rattle so that a few shiny coins will tumble out into their wallets so the department can meet their monthly ticket quota and afford new squad cars.

This problem is bigger than you or me EvaFan; I just used the discussion you created as a springboard to throw out some philosophy.

Good luck with your travels. :)

lol. I guess I'm a bit worse off than you. I generally drink rum & coke, Jack and Coke, and Chocolate Silk and coke. The Jack and coke I drink for taste, the Silk and rum to relax (as my 'wussy, girly' drink), and the rum & coke every other time. Which basically wound up being for creativity, in place of coffee to stay awake, to get motivated to do stuff, to stay pleasant and not murder the entire human race for their stupidity, and really just to function. My wake up call was about a month ago when I opened a new .750 of (regular strength) Baccardi, then about 3 or 4 hours later, was looking at about a 1/4 of the bottle (just then aware I was a little drunk) and wondering where it went. (I was the only one home at the time.) And also Immorrel bitching about me always being in some state of intoxication and going through a liter of 151 in a week or 2. And feeling bad for a really sweet friend of mine whom I always seem to be apologizing to for my drunken behavior. >_< So yeah, I don't intend to quit quite yet either, but I would like to limit it to a couple recreational drinks a week, rather than being constantly drunk. And also so I can be in a state where I can quit when we decide to try and have kids. *^_^* I also want to do it for my liver. Alcoholism runs on my bio dad's side, and his mom died of cirrhosis of the liver. While various cancers are a worry on my mom's side, I would rather fix what I have control over. ;) Anyway, good luck to you! *^_^*
