Wow. And just one entry per person? I'm... impressed.

I'll be visiting Otakon for the first time this year. Looking forward to seeing how other cons run their AMV events. Would love to sit down with ya'll to talk shop and compare notes at some point. :)

2 week warning. Time to start using your sick days, people!

Also, first post updated with some Iron Editor stuff. We need a challenger who can kick Bryce's ass or at least put up a good fight. Free Otakon badge!

Do you have to use Premiere or do you have ULead? How about Movie Maker?
:)
Nah, just kidding. I saw last year's contest. I was rooting for Brakus, (nothing against Bryce), but Bryce beat him hands down. No surprise he's won the last three. Turning out something that good that fast... Looking forward to the show again this year.

I hope I'm not being a nuisance (I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who ever asks for this), but can you add Otakon 17 to the contests calendar so we can add it to our videos' database entries here? Thanks~

If you're going to compete, you're locked into using Premiere 6.5 or Premiere CS3. Photoshop CS3 and AE CS3 are also installed. For the sake of stability, you can't bring your own apps.

Otakon 2010 has been added to the convention list.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my video right now... but I have a question:

What is your recommended way of testing the video to make sure that you've got all the settings correct? I'd like to make sure that you'll see what I see in my video... but I know that different video players can sometimes play things differently. (brightness/contrast and even aspect ratios sometimes... mencoder seems to sometimes make flags that only mplayer reads...). In particular, I want to make sure I did the 3:2 soft pulldown thing correctly, but I don't know how to test that...

Hey Vic. I plan to be submitting again this year, but I just wanted to confirm something: my video won best drama at Katsucon. That won't disqualify it, will it?

Thanks much.

I'm not Vic, but I'd assume that that would be equivalent to a First Place award and therefore disqualify the video.

For some reason I'm no longer getting e-mails from the .org, so sorry if these replies are coming late o.O

drew: you has PM.

dragontamer: Just send us your .avi or quicktime if you have the bandwidth. It's 100x easier to fix the original, than to fix a bad re-encode. We output everything using a true, broadcast NTSC signal, no software players. If I can see the original, then I will know how to make the mpeg to conform to that standard :)

miracle: a win is a win, no matter how small or large the contest is. 1st place/best means you won. If only your entry was a little bit worse and you got 2nd place instead ;)

Entries are pouring in fast and furious. I'll be looking at new entries every other day now so you last minute folks shouldn't have to wait a week for confirmation. Come Saturday I'll be posting a list here, and on the Otakon forums of all videos with outstanding problems, even though I already e-mailed the offending creators already.

I plan to finish my amv just a day or so before the deadline. I want to submit my info for ftp early so I can get my ftp login back in time. So Im not sure what the total run time and the vid title will be yet. Does everything have to be filled in ?
