Though we haven't judged it yet, I do know there was an increase in submissions to that category. I still think it's low hanging fruit for a seasoned veteran or After Effects guru, but I was pleased for the increase nevertheless.

In regards to AMTV, I'm somewhat of the opinion that "less is more" and that it might be more prestigious, and competitive, and satisfying as a three-vid category. In fact, I think all the categories could stand to lose a video or two in favor of making room for expanded categories since our current ones are rather broad. "Drama", for instance, is always bursting at the seams with vids and could easily be split into two categories such as "Light Drama" and "Dark Drama".

I had meant to propose that to Michael after last year but never got around to it. Figured I might as well voice it and hear what ya'll thought. ^^;;;

Hm, I'm not entirely sure about bumping AMTV down to three, but I do agree that there should be another category, and making the categories smaller seems like a fine way to go about this. I like the idea of 'Light Drama' and 'Dark Drama', but I'd also really like to see a 'Fun/Upbeat' category. I mean, it's a tight fit, but drama can always go into drama. But those more fun vids kinda just don't have anywhere to go. I remember there was a Kodocha vid last year [Whos name escapes me] in Comedy, and while I really enjoyed it, it wasn't exactly funny, just fun. Kind of an unfair advantage, methinks.

I agree with you. In fact, some of us said that exact same thing last year regarding that vid. It was a great vid but it didn't really fit any particular category.

Five categories of five vids plus a three-vid AMTV category equals 28 vids which is the same amount the contest consists of currently. It's schedule neutral, so it's very doable if Michael agrees it'd be beneficial to go that way.

No, not so much. I'd been sitting on the idea for a little over a year now and I wanted to voice it before I get scatterbrained and forget to mention it again. Would've discussed it privately at our next gathering (if I remembered to do so) but I figured feedback wouldn't hurt.

What? You mean you're not willing to throw out all the rules and restart judging from scratch just one month before con in order to conform to this epic scheme of epic epicness? Just what kind of coordinator are you?! :P

Got confirmation. I was surprised since I got it late last night. I did want a confirmation, but an extra day of waiting wouldn't have hurt so you could get some sleep, Michael! :|

But thanks for your hard work. :)

I didn't do too well at Fanime...let's hope AX is better. XD

Hello all,

I just wanted to let you all know that all entry notification emails have now been sent out. There were about 8 who bounced back. but all 80 emails have been sent out now. (Put on the headphones, blast a little Dark Industrial Gary Numan and its amazing how fast the time goes.)

If you didn't receive a email notification of the receipt of your videos then PM or email me, it is possible I was unable to decipher your handwriting and read your email address. Or you may be one of the two who didn't give me an email address at all. Or maybe even the one who sent the title portion of the entry forms but zero entrant Data (didn't even send the front page).

judging will be finished tonight (Friday Night) expect finalists to be posted late next week.

Thank you again to all who entered!
We have some awesome entries this year and it was really nice to see a rise in the Pro and Comedy categories. :)
Till anon,
Michael

Drama is the most inducing of the desire to slash one's wrists I can tell you that much. While things are imporving...it is still prevelant that most people seem to be under the impression that to be drama it must also be emo.
