Hello everyone!
Kawaii Kon 2010 is proud to announce the opening for submissions to the Video Art Showcase Theater (VAST) Contest (this year, with added awesome-sauce, even). Last year we had a great turnout of both entries and entrants – so this year, I want to see more (as I want to make it even tougher on the panel of judges than it was last year). So, without further adieu…
VAST Contest Rules, Short Version
(see long version of rules for full details)
Who can enter?
Anyone can enter the VAST Contest - attendance is not required, although encouraged. The only exclusion to entry is the direct staff of the KK-VAST – all other KK staffers are allowed to submit an entry.
What can I enter?
Any video editing project may be entered by its creator(s). Entries are not limited to AMV’s alone – any work of original production video art is also allowed, which includes (but not limited to) live action, self-animated, and self-shot video work. Currently, there is no limit to the number of entries. Only videos entered in previous Kawaii Kon-AMV / VAST contests are considered ineligible for entry.
Where can I enter?
There are two ways to enter the VAST Contest: snail-mail or via the internet (either thru public file transfer sites not requiring memberships to download or your own web hosting site). No entries will be accepted at the convention.
When can I enter?
Entry acceptance starts NOW!
Entry deadline is Midnight (or there abouts), Sunday, February 28, 2010<--Extended due to tsunami-warning-that-turned-out-to-be-nothing to March 2, 2010
Why do I enter?
To win, of course! An overall winner will be awarded. Other prizes / awards may be included at the discretion of the KK-VAST staff, judges, guests, or the KK-VAST Coordinator.
How do I enter?
Make a video, fill in the entry form, enter it and make sure it gets to us by the entry deadline – couldn’t be simpler. Preferred format is MPEG2 - other formats will also be accepted but they will be converted to MPEG2 on this end if you do. However, for the most control over how your video is displayed, it is suggest that you do your own MPEG2 conversion work.
