So did anyone even get to see the showing? BY 12PM there were still a looot of people in line.
Congratulations on winning the Action Category. I really wish you could have been there. The room was overfilled beyond capacity, and we had to turn people away from viewing the contest unfortunately. None of the other contest winners were present during the times that the contest winners were announced. I will need to e-mail all winners to send them their trophies.
I do agree with you that it was not good that we were not able to tell people when we were going to run out of registrations for Saturday. Because we had people not show up after pre-registering, we were able to able to accept more people At Door. Instead of 214, according to our count, we may have been able to accept 250, or more.
I don't know why ANYONE wouldn't pre-register for ANY anime convention. It is, without fail, ALWAYS faster, easier, and cheaper than At Door Registration. I have been hearing so much disgruntled rhetoric from people about how we "failed as a convention" for reaching capacity and had to turn people away. If you were to go anywhere else that was sold out, like a sold out music concert event, or a sold out sporting event, you wouldn't show up and complain that they don't have tickets for you, would you? We had a count down up until midnight the day before the convention with how many At Con Registrations were available. We were accepting pre-registrations up until midnight Friday right before the convention.
Friday Night 11:59 PM:
"Number of Zenkaikon 2009 At-Door Memberships Available
Saturday: 214; Sunday: 725; Two-Day: 214"The only logical thing that our convention can do is expand next year. Based on our figures from last year, we were not prepared to accept so many people. No one gave us a reason to. If you check the Zenkaikon forum, it is very inactive in terms of a reflection of it's current popularity.
