Yeah guys. The AMV Contest this year had some awesome entries but the actual contest was terrible. I'll take the blame for that. We were going to give 10 awards with 10 $25 dollar movie stop gift cards as prizes but unfortunately someone was in my hotel room that shouldn't have been and swiped them. We were going to have the videos judged by a group much, much more qualified than myself, but unfortunately plans fell through with that which is really just the fault of poor planning. There were a handful of amv's that were mailed in that wouldn't play on my computer which was pretty lame on my part as well. Lastly, to top it all off, when I was asking to get the certificates printed as Number 1-10, it was misinterpreted as 1st-10th place.
For botching one of my favorite aspects of anime conventions I really apologize.
Here are some thoughts on next year:
-Plaques with categories won and names listed for prizes.
-Winner of best of show to be featured in the next year's convention guide as the "Featured AMV Creator Guest" (Maybe they can host some informative panels or something.
-We will be viewing ALL videos as they come in to check for problems.
-EXP will make more of an effort to solicit video submissions from AMV'ers at other conventions so we have more winners who actually attend the convention.
I will get the winners up by Friday. I've got a lot of school work to catch up on which will be sucking up time from looking through boxes to find that folder.
Let me know either through here or at
Ryan_Sweat@expcon.org how we can make our contest one of the best.
