AWA "YES WE ARE VERY LATE IN POSTING DATES" 15 AMV Contests

Postby MCWagner » Tue Jun 23, 2009 10:03 pm

Yeah, I know. But the deadlines are less than a week different than last year.

Deadlines
Pro Contest: Deadline July 24

Masters: Deadline August 7

Expo Contest: Deadline August 21

What disaster delayed us so thorougly? It's a long story and not at all helpful to y'all, the injured parties. If self-flagellation would give y'all more time, I'd happily do it, but the fact of the matter is that we're restricted by the technical aspects of pro as to where we can put the deadline (processing time for the pro contest). We'll do our best to work with all y'all, but we can't time travel yet, so we're stuck with the dates we have.

RULES: are still under construction. Masters' final rules are up, and the old rules for Pro and Expo.
In brief:

1) Masters' is back, under new management. Jingoro, the originator, the alpha and omega of the VAT has returned, and we are working with his rules. a) 5 minute time limit. b) anyone may enter c) everything else is the same.

2) Expo: No rule changes.

3) Pro: Submission mechanisms are identical. Judging has changed a little, but is largely identical. (More later.)

Ouch.

To clarify the other rule change, that means we don't need to have won an award previously now, right?

Should I resend my MEP proposal to you Matt?

Holy crap.

Jingoro is back. I missed that lug. Too bad I can't get off for the con proper...

These deadlines are indeed painful... Now that I know Masters is up for grabs... It changes things completely...

Glad I know now though.

Matt's access is still spotty. Send it to Carl too, so he's in the loop.

Would Carl's address be vattechnical@gmail.com?

So does the excusivity rule still apply to Master's, or can we also send our entries elsewhere ?

Regarding Masters, does only the winner get shown at the con, or do all entries get shown throughout the weekend?

Last year they showed all of the entries during the award ceremony except for those with adult content.

The rules on AWA's page state that there is no guarantee that all the master entries will be shown due to time constraints. As the contest is now open to all (no previous wins required), I would assume there will be more entries and not enough time to show them all...

The way I see it, the only real difference now between Expo and Masters is in Masters there is only one winner and one primary judge...

notes:

1: we try to show at least one video from every person who submits that year.
2: if the only video you submit is a master's entry, then that video will be shown, no other complications withstanding.
3: depending on the AMV contest times, your video may not be shown during the actual contest, but will be shown in the VAT at some point.

In order, and just to confirm what TJ said:

Kitsuner, yes you do not need to have won previously.

Castor, I remember, but please send it to me again so it's at the forefront of my mind while scheduling. Also, that e-mail does go to Carl.

TJs note on the showing is correct.
