Me make a crowed-pandering video! Noooo, I'd never do that :P

Actually, I dont mind those videos at all so long as they are really well done!

Yeah, people who make those videos are unoriginal tools.

After a LONG LONG 2 days(?) of people posting on forums. I've decided to join in. I loved all the videos actually. There were to few some that were visually appealing yet lacked plot. There were the few that had such great concept. Yet lacked all the necessary plot to drive the audience to applause. I don't want to bring back the flame wars but I just want to voice my opinion.

When it all comes down to it though... The creators of AMVs are there to give us THE AUDIENCE one heck of a show. I think they did their job at AX AMV 2009. So CONGRATZ all.   (2 thumbs up, and 1 toe)

Sure there were MAJOR technicallity problems of DNR. (I forgot, but I think I got to talk to the creator after the ceremonies as he even pointed it out) but he gave what the audience found entertaining. I mean... nobody else was going to do it...?

And sure it DID have it's funny moments (as MichaelU said in the forums). But majority of it (if you payed attention the second time instead of heckling at it) WAS dramatic
Spoiler :
Light being killed can't be considered comedy... unless you're sadistic enough
But the genre is of the viewer's perspective. The audience had no problem.

It's actually elusively obvious that the ones putting such an entertaining video down are it's opponents.

But please... No more nasty feedback. :nono: (thought most were good-intended constructive criticism)

We the audience enjoyed every BIT of AMVs that were screen... Heck... I'd go through it again and AGAIN and AGAIN and... etc.

That's all that really matters. So give DNR a break.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I'm actually excited to see ALL the videos up... I can't seem to find DNR & Code:Roll though. Any links?

I'm through voicing my opinion on this subject... I'm gonna get back to some PWNage on BF2.

While I agree that the video had SOME dramatic elements, it was majorly comedic. That would be like putting the Fate/Stay night video in comedy simply because it had the one scene of "saber pac-man". It was obviously an action video, that scene was put in there because that one musical interlude sounded like an old video game.

I'm just waiting because I know someone's gonna start flaming. I understand that the audience should be entertained, and I agree (as I stated in my last post). But not at the cost of biasing a whole category on a video that does not belong in it. As well, the "Best of Show" should be the video that showed the best showing AS WELL as best technical skill. That used to be chosen based on the creator's/Judge's/Staff favorites because those are generally chosen based on more rounded criteria than the audience will give it. I'll make no secret about the fact that I believe Vlad's video, after getting judges and staff favorite AND winning his category, should have gotten best in show, not a video that took a landslide win in a biased category, with sub-par editing, that basically just fed the audience "teh funny".

I really tried to stop myself from posting this, because it's just going to make me look like an arrogant prick, but I'll do it. If anyone remembers the first video of the preshow, Curtain Call (death note to "show must go on" by queen). That video was created by Rider and myself and was marked on the entry sheet for both Drama and AMtv. So not only was it edged out of Drama by DNR, but I can only assume that it was the 8th AMtv entry that was dropped.

Edit: Fixed quote on who said what.

That's not the case. If a creator marks multiple categories on their entry form (a practice I think needs to stop, but I digress), that doesn't mean it competes in both categories. It means it competes in whichever of those categories Michael and the judges sees fit to put it in. In this case, your video landed in drama.

Mine was the other death note video from pre-show, also in drama. Still annoyed that I was beat out by DNR. And yes that video is more comedy than drama, even based on its dramatic elements I felt it wasn't that great. Teh audience was clearly reacting to the comedy which stood out in the video far above its dramatic elements.
