I guess NekoCon is kind of a cool name, nya. And you can probably imagine what a haven it is for catgirls (anime and rave varieties alike), nya. ;) As mentioned, the con theme this year is "the Good, the Bad, and the Neko." Cosplayers had better step up for this one, nya.

And hopefully at least one AMV editor will as well... :jester:

I'll just have to crank up Vegas again and re-render.

What, you didn't keep a gigantic lossless master copy?

Yeh. I've got a lagarith for each of the various versions. And 2 DVD-R copies of the finish setup files so I can make more.

BUT - those lagarith files are on PC I use at work while I am sitting there waiting for an alarm to go off or something - in my OLD job. New job has no spare time, so no time for PC.

I could bring it home, shove bunch of stuff around and piss off my wife - OR I can just make new one on home PC while I eat my Cheerios.

Yup, we are...but I'm thinking they won't be as much as last year because we have actual trophies in the works. Furthermore, there will be a special AMV award show to reveal the winning entries and hand out the prizes. The next department meeting should be coming soon so I'll (hopefully) have more details.

Hey, kids...there are less than four weeks until the submission deadline! We're looking pretty darn light on entries so far so let's get crackin' and put some AMVs into this contest, whether by mail or FTP. Time's a-wastin'...

I sent 3 days ago an email submission to the given amv@nekocon.com address with the required basic entry info and FTP upload request, but no reply yet. Does anybody check the mail sometimes or are you busy to check ?

I'm not the department head but I just shot a message off to her. She and Elvis are handling all the tech and administrative stuff while I liaise between them and the 'org, as well as doing research and special projects within the department. Anyway, I'll have an answer as soon as possible or you'll receive the FTP info (whichever comes first)...

I'd also requested ftp a couple days ago. September 6th to be accurate. Still hadn't heard anything.

I spoke to our DH Friday about this and, long story short, some miscommunications have led to a delay in getting the FTP accounts out to those who have requested them. They are going to remedy this problem by weekend's end, I've been told.

Furthermore, the mail to all NekoCon departments goes to a single PO box, which belongs to our con chair. There was a general staff meeting yesterday and our DH said she'd get with him to retrieve any and all AMV stuffs which have come in. Just to be safe, though, request an FTP account by the end of this week. Either way, I'm going to talk to everyone by Monday and see where we are at this point.

And just in case you've never submitted through FTP, you might wanna download FileZilla. A Google search should bring up what you need right away. It's totally free; no trial restrictions or anything.

Honestly, everyone behind this contest has extensive experience so rest assured everything will be taken care of. Being within three weeks of deadline, chaos will certainly ensue as it always does but we always manage to get things in order. I'll keep you all updated...

I would like to submit my video to the NON-COMPETING category, because I would like to use another chance to present my work to an audience.

I have a question to rule #8
8. Be tasteful. We cannot accept videos with nudity or overly explicit lyrics. If we can only show your video after midnight, it's not going to appear in the contest. We reserve the right to refuse your video for any reason, be it nudity...

Uhm well I have a video with nudity in it, but it's for sure presented "tastefully". Do you don't accept any sort of video with nudity in it? Or is my video alright for the contest to be screened in the non-competing category?

I'm 99% sure the non-competing "category" for this convention is treated as an "overflow" event, but I'll take this up with my DH to make sure. Either way, so far all AMV-related events (except AMV Salad 3 which is self-proclaimed PG-13) are scheduled during general viewing hours, which means anyone of any age at the convention could wander in.

This having been said, in your case, it isn't the "tasteful" part in question. Perfect Blue is creepy on its own and your video certainly keeps in context with the theme. The reasons I have serious doubts about this being shown to general audiences are the full-frontal nudity (vague, teasing side shots are more likely to pass), the unedited song (language), and blatant violence (someone is clearly being murdered). And this was just within the first half of the video.

Basically, I wouldn't count on this video being included on any AMV play list that isn't geared for an "18+" audience. But, as I said, I'll ask my DH to look this one over to be absolutely certain. Again, it's more than likely dependent on what time of day the "non-competing" videos are being shown...

No problem. I wouldn't show it to a crowd of all age too.
