Anime Mid Atlantic AMV Contest - RESULTS AND WINNERS

I thought we had this discussion recently regarding money awards for AMV contests (gift card=money), and the potential problems (at least for us in the US) regarding copyright issues.

AMVs are in a gray area 'fair-use' wise as it is without money awards.

It's not a problem for me as I'm not entered here. How is it not s problem for the convention itself? Or do gift cards somehow not rate as profit?

I do not have the authority to discuss this matter. The only thing I can say is that the gift cards are donated by companies as prize support. AMA has not purchased these gift cards or any prizes.

I really don't see the gift cards as an issue. It's really no differetn then gettign prizes...

As just about any gift card will attest. Gift card /= money.

I'm having some difficulties. This is the first year that we are trying to set up the FTP? I know I have been saying this but it should be up in the next couple of days. Hopefully at the end of the week at the latest.

That would be great Vlad. I'm not to good with setting up FTP servers. I'll try to work on one myself so I can have one ready next year and test it out with a few editors this year to see if it works when I get it up and running.
