Just got an email from the director of ALA Amv's 2009 contest.

Still finalizing the rules for this year. Final submissions are due by December 1st.

-Mikal

Thought people would like to know. Rules are probably going to be similar to last year.

I wonder if it's possible to request a deadline extension because the contest is pretty much unknown to a lot of people.

Quote and quote:
I) AMV Restrictions

1) Soft maximum running time length of 4:00; hard maximum length of 6:00 AMV entry
2) CD or DVD submissions only. Tape Media or other electronic media submissions WILL NOT be accepted.

II) Submission Restrictions

1) Deadline for submissions is 1 DECEMBER 2008.
2) NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AT THE CONVENTION.
3) There is no limit to the number of videos you may submit. Submit as many videos as you like.
4) You must have a membership to the convention.

III) How to Submit

1) Complete the form HERE
2) Burn a single copy of your AMV to a CD or DVD
3) Mail the above to:

12616 Caswell Avenue Apt. #3
Los Angeles, CA 90066

So yeah, although they had the rule last year they didn't follow it, let a lone the limit for one entry per person. *sigh*

If you want competition, I'll show you some competition. :x
Oh sorry I got caught in my burning fire, I'll take note of it if anything happens. And hey why not ask the coordinator if I can proxy for you in the contest? Those weren't in the rules since I'm going and I'm in the contest
As for the prize from the other contest, I never got it from the coordinator. $20 says he forgot. |:>

Lame. <_<
It seems like you have to pay to be in the contest in a way, which is a no no in my opinion. :nono:

hey wanted to chime in and say that I've entered.

Need to avange last year's video and I am looking forward to seeing my AMV peeps.
This is how I see things:
A bad AMV makes it look easy
A good AMV makes it look fun
A great AMV makes it look hard
However, the best AMVs make it look impossible

Well my entry has been sent.
Curious if anyone would know if the contest entries would actually be judged in this year?
(E.G: Allow every entry sent in to be in the contest like from this year previously)

The drama category took forever last year (or this year actually lol). :(

The 'prizes' for the contest are just given out at the convention. Or so has it been for the last two years. Again why you should attend the convention to participate. I highly support that you must support the convention in order to be able to enter the contest. It's not a big convention and therefore needs all the support it can get. I also want to compete with local creators, or atleast those who will be at the convention vs unknown people thousands of miles away.

This year they also have stated that there will be a limit to the number of enteries per category.
