Ryan Cabrera - "I Will Remember You"

Richard Bradford - "Go Ask Haruhi" (Ouran High School Host Club)
Jefferson Airplane - "White Rabbit"

*** refresh my memory of who won first place - I was walking from the stage when they announced it :( ***

Comedy (8 entries):
Richard Bradford - "Me Wuvs You" (various)
Amy Castle - "the Cuppycake Song"

Dustin Todd - "Who Needs a King?" (Death Note)
Jeremy Irons - "Be Prepared" (from the Lion King)

Drew Brisco - "Commander in Fad" (various)
YTMND "fad" songs and remixes from YTMND.com

*** again, please verify the winner :( ***

These results were drawn from memory because I didn't have anything to mark the actual winners on the ballot. I know...I fail.

Thanks for letting us know who won. Makes me happy to know that my video won one portion of Action/Adventure. Does this mean there are different awards depending on where it placed in the voting? Usually there's one clear cut winner for a specific category.

Oh well, congrats on all the finalists and winners!

Third - $25 Best Buy gift card
Second - $50 BB GC
First - I don't remember if a gift card came with it, but a anime DVD box set was part of the deal.
Best in Show was the only place which earned a trophy...

I was so busy I missed the AMV contest both times. :( I did find someone Friday night who was raving about "Commander in Fad." I asked if he remembered the really short one - the "Cuppycake" song. He then said my video was "lunch." Anyone else ever hear that expression before?

I was just about to ask how my YTMND AMV: Commander in Fad was received by the audience, but I guess you beat me to the punch (congratulations on having two winning videos, by the way). I've no idea what the expression means. So did you post the winners in

3rd

2nd

1st

format, or out of order?

If I remember correctly from the entry site; first place got a $100 gift certificate, but no dvd. Anyhow, congratulations everyone!

I think I actually got the order correct (from 3rd to 1st). The guys on stage were joking about keeping the box sets for themselves because no one was there to claim them... ;)

Boo as usual my Esca AMV was too old school to be appreciated by a mainstream crowd. :?

I think we've all felt a similar way about our being "snubbed" at some time. It's happened to all of us. I went three years before inspiration brought about "Go Ask Haruhi" and I finally started appearing in the contests. I think it was then I finally understood the importance of hitting the right combination of song and scenery. Of course, "White Rabbit" was the obvious choice for the anime I used. It was a "Why didn't I think of this before?" revelation. Even more to the point, "why hasn't anyone else done it?"

I can give you a true opinion if you want it. Just don't force a concept into being if you are low on the proper scenery. Drama, in addition to being the most populated category in any AMV contest, is extremely dependent on mood, balance, timing, and the story. It's tougher than it looks to do right by this category. It reminds me of the fangirl who complains that her character profile video didn't make the finals for Romance. It may not be intentional, but it happens. Upbeat and Action are also similarly confused. The only definite we have is comedy, and THAT'S tough to master.

Anyway, just keep cranking out ideas. Sometimes it's all anyone can do to find inspiration... ;)
