AnimeNEXT 2007 AMV Contest (Winners)

Post by VegettoEX » Tue Apr 03, 2007 8:43 pm

Hello, all! Two-month reminder! (quasi as of this writing!)

AnimeNEXT takes place July 6th to 8th at the Holiday Inn & Medowlands Expo Center in New Jersey. This is just a friendly reminder that the deadline for our 2007 AMV contest is June 9th, 2007. That's an "in-our-hands" deadline.

As always, you can find a full rundown of the rules for the contest on the website in both PDF and Word formats. For some more helpful reminders, though, here's our quick checklist from the entry form. Just keep in mind that it is a quick overview; you are expected to read the complete contest rules to make sure everything is in check. By all means, though, don't hesitate to ask questions!

Before you submit your video, did you remember to...
  • Encode your video as MPEG-2?
  • Add 2 seconds of black-space before and after your video?
  • Confirm there are no subtitles per the contest rules?
  • Remove all credits, title cards, logos, or bumpers?
  • Completely fill out your entry form?
  • Label your entry & case with contact info / video info?
Our categories, as they have been, will continue to be:
  • Trailer / Parody
  • Action
  • Drama
  • Comedy
We look forward to all of your submissions and seeing you at the convention!

By the way, is there a particular reason that MPEG-1 submissions aren't allowed? Not everyone is still within the 30-day trial period for TMPGEnc's MPEG-2 encoder or knows where to get a free one...

Sorry, missed this question :).

We've never had a problem with asking for MPEG-2 videos in the past; in fact, nearly every single video we've ever received for the contest *has* been an MPEG-2, which is one of the reasons we just went ahead and made the rule update.

If the trial of TMPGEnc is a problem, there are a couple solutions... you can buy it, or simply use a different computer (in the house, a friend's, etc.) to do the MPEG-2 encode.

Just popping in for your friendly one-month reminder! Entries must be in our hands by Saturday, June 9th.

The AnimeNEXT website is currently down at the moment, but it should be back pretty soon. In the meantime, check out the initial post in this thread, and let me know if you have any questions.

Confirmation e-mails for entries received thus-far will be going out shortly!

Could I put an mpeg2 on my server and link it to you guys on the submission form? Kinda impractical to mail the entry, unless you want to see what the Evangelion stamps look like so badly :P
