AWA Pro contest question

Postby MousePotato » Thu May 12, 2005 12:00 am

Im new to the AWA contest, but I would like to display my video in the Pro contest. Unfortunatly I don't live anywhere never atlanta and Im using up all my leave on Otakon (Im military). Is it bad form to enter a vid in the pro contest if Im not present at the convention? From what I red, it looks like the 6 or so hours of videos are sent to each contestent for review and judging. Am I correct? Also, I saw that in the Master's contest you can't enter a video that was entered into anyother contest prior to the Masters. Does that mean that I couldn't enter the same video Im sending to Otakon into the Masters tourny? If not, Does this rule apply to the Pro tourny?

Thanks

You don't need to be at the contest.

You can send your pro video to Otakon as well.

You can't send your otakon video to masters.

Just curious. Is this contest considered bigger than Otakon, or it that just hype. Either way there's some sort of hypeingness about one of the two.

AWA's 3 contests combined get more entires.

Otakon's in previouls years is the largest single contest as it accpets one entry per person and usually got about 180-200 entires!

The impression that I get is that they're about even; Otakon has the sheer huge volume of entries (and huge audience), while AWA Pro has the contestants-only judging and an excellent reputation.

If you don't like audience-voted contests, I'd suggest AWA Pro. :)

Ok, lemme kill this right now.

Quu is NOT working the VAT room at AWA in any capacity, or anywhere else at AWA in any capacity, or any other con in any capacity. He's taking a break for a year or two, enjoying his new marriage and all the responsibilities and poontang therein. Nothing that can be said anywhere can change this.

As I understand it, much of the technical aspects will be handled by Wayne Hamilton, whom Quu worked with last year to groom for this possibility. Wayne is very familiar with computers and digital media and very hard working, if you met him at AWA last year. Meanwhile, Matt and TJ have been working on ways to facilitate the changeover of VAT from Quu's departure. I'm sure they'll be explaining the changes sometime soon. Meanwhile, have fun. ^^

the original questions in the thread were answered correctly, 10-Q. :)

And no, Quu has stepped away from directly intervening with any anime convention since AWA. He continues to give advisement and donated some gear to AWA, but is no longer participating.

His expertise and work ethic for the last 4 years, however, have paved a path for us to continue to draw from that experience he invested.

Not much will be changing in the contests as far as rules or how they're managed, and we may be extending certain deadlines. Stay tuned.
