AMVs at Tekkoshocon

Postby BasharOfTheAges » Sun Apr 10, 2005 6:17 pm

So, who went?
How big was the contest?
What did you like / dislike?

And most important of all, what won?

Not really.. it just seemed like more of a clincher to the question set.

Well, for those of us that made the final cut and actually think we have an outside chance at snagging anything, I'd think it would be high on the importance list.

what I heard from their coordinator right before she left was that the results would be posted after she got home from the con and slept, if I recall correctly its like an 8-11 hour drive for her.

just passing on info she asked me to if tekkoshocon was asked about, I am about to post the official Sakura-Con Results

So there was a cut announced, that would have been nice to know beforehand... oh well.

I actually didn't expect official word for quite some time, i was just looking for fan reactionright after the con. So attendees, how about it?

I just got in the door. So give me some time to shower and sleep and I will get to posting winners guys. It was a nearly day long drive via bus to get to and from the con each way so bear with me.

As far as cuts went.... Everyone did make it in except two which had to be disqualified for content and one also ran well over the 6 min limit.

AS to why nothing came up before.... I guess I have time to go into a fun story before I collapse and tide people over.

A week before the con all renders were pretty much complete and I was about to finish up some bumpers and burn the disk. Well, my idiot roomate (who I love dearly but is a dunce with computers) went onto some russian porn sites the evening prior. Lots of not so fun things ended up on the computer and killed it's performance and also corrupted some files.

In short I was rushing until I was heading out the door to re-render files and get the burns done. In fact I almost had to put the non-corrupted files onto a seperate drive and lug that halfway across the country. So thaf explains my silence in the days prior.

Sorry about that.

And now I leave in in suspence until I get some rest. All the results will go up later tonight though so it should not be too long. But guys do realize that if I am doing an amv contest chances are I need time to get home! That is a good rule is to give the coordinators at any con at least a day to get in and even unwind! Cons are exhausting.

I applaud your effort and wish you restful slumber.

Again, I only expected fans to mabye reply here since the con's message boards don't even have an AMV section. Your effort to even post here in your haggard state is more than i ever expected...

Take care and wait until your more rested to post any results.

Alright the Winners announcement

Postby Illia Sadri » Tue Apr 12, 2005 4:57 pm

Alright time to go on with the winners. And some odd observations this year. There were quite a few of them.

1.) For the first time in a long time a romance video has won best in show by a popular vote. It's rare in general but to see it happen not by judges but by attendees is rare

2.) Action winner was someone's first amv and actually was made in Windows Movie Maker.

3.) Trailers had been neck in neck the entire time between three of the four videos. The winner was by a single vote.

4.) Drama was also a single vote win. Two categories to have that is rather uncommon.

5.) We had 5 AMV showings through the con, 4 of them were for voting. All showings were well attended.

6.) Very few comedy videos were submitted as only three played. (2 others were disqualified for content one had nudity and another ran 8 and a half minuites long)

7.) 4 videos were listed as Various Audio. Two used spoken dialogue from the show either in english or japanese versions. One person had no clue what his audio was and was listed as unknown.

8.) Two VHD: Bloodlust videos, both in trailers. We also had 4 Naruto videos in three categories. And two Kenshin videos were both in Drama.
