How to enter a-m-v.org annual contest.

Postby fenfam » Fri Nov 12, 2004 2:51 pm

How does a new member go about entering their videos into this site's yearly contests? Or how does anyone enter for that matter?
Must your videos be nominated?
I am looking to enter my first video into the "Best First Video" catagory for the year it qualifies (I'm not sure on that either).
I apologize for the newbie questions.
Thanks,
-Ben

When the VCAs come around, everyone will be told.

Or so I would think.

As long as you meet the requirements and don't do anything to get disqualified (non anime videos in your profile, unknown song/artist, etc) your videos should automatically be put on the lists when it comes time to select the nominees. Your first video should also automatically be on the list for the First Video category. You can get more details at the beginning of the year when the contest starts up.

Oh yeah, and make sure you've selected appropriate categories for your videos (Step 1 of the Edit Video process), and make sure you check the "All my videos have been entered into the database" box in your member profile.

Quite a number of people forgot to do that last year and were disqualified as a result.

... and then there were the people who intentionally neglected to do it so as to make sure they would be DQ'ed.

make sure you check the "All my videos have been entered into the database" box in your member profile.

So all your videos must be uploaded locally you cannot have any vids with direct or indirect links only?

Being in the database means an entry, not a download.

So, if your video meets all requierements it's automatically in the running for the contest? You don't have to write to con something?

it's automatically in the running for nominations. then the top 5 nominees for each award category gets listed for the actual voting.

Sometimes more than five if the scores are close, as the records will show.

Most Improved is the worst category ever.

As far as I'm concerned, nearly everyone has improved in some way; and the most who have improved are bountiful and nearly impossible to account for. It's so much more opinionated than the other categories to the point that it loses so much of its plausibility.

Hell, I could say I'm most improved, but how am I going to prove this over anyone else?

I completely agree. "Most improved" is some sort of "There there don't you cry. Here's a lollypop." award.
