JCD wrote:Hey, just found out website & location of the contest in the Netherlands:
It's called Animecon or Anime 2005 (depending on the year of course) being held in Haarlem.
Website is here:
http://www.animecon.nl/They have an AMV-contest since 2001 already it seems... Paul Kievits is the contest coordinator, he surely knows more.
And yay, that is really not far away for me 8)
Attending is only a question of pocket money

Why didn't I find that out earlier *smacks head to table*
Hehe I wasn't up to promoting the contest yet, I'm glad you did it on my behalf

.
Anyway, let me fill in some of the blanks. The AMV contest has been run since 2002 (with 4 contestants, including me) and has been slowly growing (Last year there about 10 contestants I think). Last year I won the contest, but this year I won't be competing since I'm organizing the contest. This year I want to make the contest much larger both in contestants as in viewers (I managed to arange a room which seats 750 people for the contest

). So if you are planning on attending the con (or wasn't until you read this) be sure to send in an AMV. The only downside (something the previous organizer decided on and I haven't been able to change so far) is the so called "3-minute rule". Basically we have a rule in holland which says you're allowed to air 3 minutes of anything for free. Beyond the 3 minute limit you have to start paying. Since the organization doesn't feel like paying per serie they decided to keep all video's limited to 3 minutes. I'm still trying to find a loophole in the law, but until then there's that stupid limit
Anyway the con will be held somewhere in may 2005 (no exact date set yet). And it won't be held in Haarlem (that was the 2003 edition) but in Almelo (which is about 25km from the german border and 80km from osnarbruk) so I expect you to be there JCD
