Yaoi-CON AMV Contest Update

Postby The Wired Knight » Sat Jul 10, 2004 1:18 am

Hey folks, just an update saying that the AMV Contest deadline for Yaoi-con is up and coming within slightly over a month for early submission and about two months before the drop dead date. I still don't have any submissions this year so I'm hoping we will get some so we can have as good a contest as last year. I'm setting up the digital submission as we speak, till then you can still use the regular snail mail submissions. Good luck.

I want to have mine done by next month, but I know for a fact I'm submitting, and there's always been plenty of entries to go around at the con. People are just waiting down to the wire to make the best possible videos they can so.

Yaoicon is an actual convention with actual rules to their contest. Last I checked, you had to send them your video (currently mail-ins only, digital to come soon) along with all of your contact information, video information, etc. on the submission form. These rules can be found at the con website.

I figured you knew that, but I also assumed you thought this was an online contest because you just posted a link. Thanks for submitting though, we love Gundam videos ^_~

Pilk said he'd enter his 26 year old duck underware.. i dont have the link at the moment, but i'll tell him to get to sending that in.. as for me.. i probably wont enter, sorry, but im rushing my vids until august 27th... awa deadlines are killing me.. i gotta finish all 6 of my vids that i wanted to enter into awa... so wish me luck!

There is no prejudice for choice of series really say for one exception, videos aboutheterosexual couples aredisqualified (this is Yaoi-con afterall) but you can use any series you want so long as it's either shounen ai in theme (the video) or fits teh con theme of the year.

Sadly, at the moment the answer is no, the sad truth is that I do not have a DVD drive in my computer (jsut yet) I'm hoping to get one by the end of the summer. If I get one I'll ammend teh rules to accept DVD-R. Without that drive, if you send me a DVD-R data disc I won't be able to compile it into the main contest. HOWEVER!!! If you do send me a DVD that will work in my DVD player I have a few bypass methods that will allow me to use it.

Do you accept vids in huffyuv format if they're burnt onto multiple cd-rs as winrar files? With that you'd have to copy the parts to the same drive and then open the first part (which then compiles the entire file). I can toss the winrar installer onto the cdrs. ^_^;;

If not, are huffyuv files acceptable once the online server is ready? Will there be enough time for a dial-up user to upload something that big? o.o

HuffyUV files are acceptable as are RAR files (I allready have the setup to work with those). As it says on the site, so long as teh codecs are compatible with Adobe Premiere I'm fine.

Hey,

I am up to my ears in deadlines. 0_0

I am not sure if I could make something this year though with winning something last year (Whoopee!) I may send in the video that was MEANT to be sent in, but somehow wasn't.

Anyway. The only reason I wanted to post in this thread was so I could bitch about not recieving my tape full of last year's Yaoicon AMVs.
So here I go.

DAMN YOU WIRED KNIGHT I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THOSE AMVS AND THEN WHEN CHRISTMAS CAME ALONG I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED I DIDNT EVEN GET NO EMAIL SAYING IT COULDN'T BE SENT TO MY HOME CRYCRY

We ran into two problems last year.

1. The awards, not all of them got out, I gave them to con staff to give out at the closing ceremonies because I had to catch a flight but some weren't given out so they all got sent back to me. Why they were I don't know, but this followed Quu's crash of the otakuvideo site so I lost all the addresses

2. The con tapes are a bit of an issue, there was an encoding problem last year since I got the copies in an odd manner, once I get a DVD-R on my computer I can resolve the isue post haste.
