I remember reading somewhere that the "Big Four" are, in chronological order: Project: A-kon, Anime Expo, Otakon, and Anime Weekend Atlanta (heck, AWA has three separate contests).

I'm told, though, that Anime Boston will get VERY big next year, as they're moving to the Hynes Convention Center and will no longer have to cap attendance.

I disagree only with the A-Kon statement. From what I have seen and heard, A-Kon is horribly run and because of that, don't get that many "good" entries to make it a very competitive contest like say Otakon or AWA. Not to say good videos aren't shown there, but I'd hardly call it a top contest in terms of competitiveness.

From the impression I get from people on the forums, and from personal experience I'd say the only contests that really blow all others out of the water are AWA and Otacon.

AWA is bigger, Otakon is more competitive (as AWA has more categories and awards), Otakon has biggest coverage (most people seeing the video, especially if it wins)
