My 2 cents.
While I'm not against this contest in any way, I would like to say that almost any real amv contest at major conventions are open to ANYBODY, noobs and "pros" alike.
It's by nature that anyone with experience will definitely have an advantage over people who don't. Sorry, that's just the way the world works, not just in amvs, but in sports, video games, poetry, pie eating, etc...

So if you fit this criteria, guess what....NO GO!!!!
Booyah!
I do sense a ting of bitterness from that alone
Newbie amv creators have as much chance of getting their videos shown like anyone else at most established conventions. Otakon, AWA, and Akon for example are 3 huge conventions that show nearly everything. I know you want to help newbies get exposure and that's perfectly fine...
But the fact is that newbies do have chances to get exposure and they are not looked down on or oppressed as much as you think. Just because a few newbies are opposed on the .org, doesn't mean they're opposed everywhere. I kinda see where you want to go with this contest but any noob that takes the effort to improve and works hard will be ok.
Like everyone else has been saying, noobs have as much chance to make it out there as everybody else. So don't worry...
noobs will be ok
