:?

Because Castor needs to be able to know that this was made using a free editing system. He's not familiar with the others, so he won't be able to tell who is breaking the rules. And if you add in vdub and avs filters, it would be that much harder to differentiate from a video made in Premiere or other high-cost editing programs.

oh crap, we can't use mspaint? ... all my videos have enders created in mspaint (the title tool in wmm doesn't do it for me). does that disqualify them?

and how about free audio editing tools like audacity?

It's very easy to prove all you used was vdub or a paint program - just submit screencaps of the 'effects' you did in those programs. It's no different from proving you used wmm by providing a screencap.

My biggest complaint is that you can't use at *least* a paint program. Even people who use Premiere almost always use a photoshop/paint program as well. I took that as a given. VirtualDub is a little more complicated, but if it's limited to the filters vdub comes with, I don't see how it's giving an unfair advantage over other wmm users, especially the ones who rip dvds for source footage and encode them to huffyuv via vdub.

My problem is that my version of wmm won't take screencaps. I can't import picture files. I have to use the logo filter in vdub and past the pic over an avi file - saving to avi format in order to use them. No filters with vdub means even mspaint won't help me since i can't convert the picture files into video files.

I may be pretty lenient on the screencap thing. I really would like screencaps since I need proof that the videos were done in WMM.

And umm... cineralla or whatever it's called... don't throw in EVERY free program into this contest.

Sure no prob. Looking forward to the contest, so when you get 10 entries is that it or are you just going to set a deadline for entries?

Problem with my AIM is that I'm on a router so that means I'm under a firewall. Sometimes people can connect to me but some others can't. I'll be signing on later tonight.

And after I get 10 entries, I will set a deadline. It will be a fair amount of time for more people to finish videos.

Dannywilson has also suggested Custom effects and transitions for WMM to use. It has also been added to the page as well.

No adding crazy filters in virtualdub like RGB difference or something like that. Deinterlacing, Inverse Telecine, and grain removal is fine.

What about removing subtitles? I'm not entering the contest, I'm just curious about that.

Ok, I know this is bending the rules alot, but what if we used free programs LOWER than WMM.

for example, my two vids were done entirely with three programs: Goldwave for audio conversion, Gimp for 99% of visual effects, virtuaDub for editing. yes, that's what I said. my two videos were doen with virtua dub. all fading was done using btimap sequences generated with gimp. may I include my two?

You guys think WMM is low quality? Try using Videomach, as I did for all my old vids
