I have a quick musing about the rules, which all look quite fine and dandy, however, when it comes to the, can only submit 1 video rule, do you think we could make an exception for Theme category? I mean, I may be off base on this, but I don't know of that many creators that will make something strictly for Theme and not something else. I could just see theme only getting like maybe 3 videos and Drama/Action/Comedy getting overloaded.

I dunno, just my thoughts on the matter, since I know I'm planning on submitting to one of the main categories, but I wouldn't mind also doing a theme. But I'm certainly not going to pick theme over my other category. Of course I could be completely alone on this :P

Hmmm interesting. I do see your point that there won't be that many people in theme (at least if the past is any indication), but at the same time, this might just over-saturate the category. I know that I for one would definitely try and get something done so I could enter.

I guess at the same time, even though it'd generate videos, we gotta look at the other side. That being that some folks will get to compete twice while others only one. I guess it's up to SailorDeath and also on the number of Theme entries (which we won't know till the end, so moot point?). I know of at least two editors making something for theme, so maybe we'll be alright *shrug*.

Is it acceptable to send an entry to ACen as well as another convention contest happening on the same weekend?

Quick question
When you upload videos, Will it be like when you upload to the .org? Or is it compelely diffrent. Maybe snail mail is the way to go.

you'll create an account for yourself first (which will be reuseable for other contest that otakuvideo is involved with) aftgert that you';ll enter your video, then one one screen you'll have the name of an ftp server, a username and a password, you then get an ftp program, (like coffecup) and connect to the server and log in using the username and password we provided to you when you created the video, then you just simply upload the video. the contest site will have more detailed instructions when it's done

I have two quick questions:

The video I was planning on entering was originally an video I did for an online Iron Chef back in January. However, I am remastering it. Would I be allowed to enter this video?

Who do I contact to get the FTP info?

I don't imagine it would be a problem. I know there are trolling rules, but obviously this was something done for fun and not really a "contest" by means of what ACen is looking at.

I guess the only thing that is debateable is the whole "uniqueness" of it. I guess I should talk to Quu/Julius about that one since I too am a bit curious as to how this will work (although I agree with it).

I don't think it would be much of a problem either, but the rules do say videos that are created during the month of April, and, well, this one kinda "wasn't." Just wondering if I could still enter it or not.

Don't know what you mean by "uniqueness," Daniel. You mean how different from the Iron Chef version it is?

During April? I think he meant it had to be created within the last year...not in the last month. I could be wrong, but am pretty sure on this. Re-read it :)

As for "uniqueness", I'm not 100% sure on this since I know it was being discussed, but I'm fairly sure ACen implemented a "unique entriies only" policy similar to that of JACON. This was done (assuming it was) for various reasons:

1) Less entries (they had over 120 last year)
2) Makes for a more diverse contest (i.e. not the same vids at every con)
3) Eliminates trolling
4) Better chances for local editors to *not* be cut

I'm not 100% sure they implemented this, but I do remember discussing it on the ACen forums and it getting a fairly positive reaction.

If not, I am 100% sure they at least have a trolling rule, but you'd be exempt from that in this case.

If I'm wrong, please correct me Julius.
