That took up 2 lines so it probably threw a few people off.
Action??? man and I felt bad for entering my Sweating Bullets in as a Drama at Otakon... sure your video as a lot of action, but Acen it was the funniest video there. I am sorry, but putting that video into action imho is a grossly wrong since it uses the action to produce the COMEDY.
I meant for it to be a fun action video but we'll see the reaction at AX...
Sorry... I don't think it is a borderline video at all and I feel that it is unfair to the other ture hardcore action videos especially at AX. Not that I am in the contest... but you have already entered it to how many cons?

9 finalists

Post by anneke » Tue Jul 02, 2002 11:10 am

I would bet that there is only 9 finalists for Comedy.

1. To pick a 10th would have been to dang hard.

and/or

2. They only had enough time for 9.

Longer explination:
Figure they picked the best videos from the category which turned out to be 9 videos. Instead of having to go through all the other remaining videos to find one entry they decided to keep the category to 9. This also insures they finish the contest on time. Last year they were rushing everyone out of the theater at midnight. (Due to if people were there past midnight they had to pay more for the theater. You would think with all the dang people going they could afford to pay for the theater longer.)

Actually, I hear that the judging at AX was done on a points basis so it's not a case of "picking the best videos", it's much more calculated.

If there is a reason (such as length) then that's fine... but it is curious.

Whoa! I'm a finalist?
Is that grounds for recognition to post on my site?
Sounds like it was a very difficult selection.

Ian - You have my sincerest apologies for not making it into the Finals. I thought you would be a sure fire entry. I don't know what those people are thinking. Maybe they want you (or your proxy) in person for some special recognition or something.

Not a Finalist, maybe something else?

w00t! I got one in!!! Though, I'm suprised that it's my most trippy to date, and the one that I entered that I _swore_ was gonna get in didn't.

It's gotta be the song I used. The music in Cursed Fate is a remix of the Water Temple theme from Secret of Mana.... LOL that's probably why it got in :)

9 finalists

Even if it was point based... They took the top 9 highest ranking videos by points. Then you have like 20 videos that tie for that 10th place. It's better to just go with 9 then to try and pick one from 20 videos that tied for that tenth place.

This is just what I think may have occured. Most likely it was due to time, or a combination of the two.

Or they could have just forgot. Oh well.

TO Ian:

Damn man, I had money riding on that AMV cause I knew it woudl get in. Makes me question these Damn AX Contest. Don't worry man, there is always AWA where there is no courrpution :D

Like I said "Shameless Rock Video is so far the Best Anime Music Video fo the year!"

Man, to my huge surprise, not even Ermac made it in. That really scares me. The guy won Best Action last year at AX, you would have thought he would get in again, the guy does make good videos.

Another thing I noticed was alot of new people pn the scene. I maybe only recognized 5 videos within all of the 30vids that made it.

I'm still shocked that several videos that I knew of that were entered into AX didn't make it at all.
