Hmm, you might be talking about my video. Probably just wishful thinking on my part though. :) Mine had a LOT of lip synching, though I don't know if I'd call it good lip synching. It was Super Gals! footage to "Super Model" by Jill Sobule. It's here if you want to see if it's the same one. I'm not plugging for my video or anything, I'm just curious if anybody liked it at all, cause it didn't get much of a crowd reaction...well, unless you count, "confused silence" as a crowd reaction.

No, that wasn't the one I was talking about, but it was a good video too. I've seen the first two episodes of Super GALS and I've wanted to see more. There were a lot of non-traditional videos at Megacon... Super GALS, Hikaru no Go, Ippo, and more.

i was really amazed my video was shown on the screen, but the audience seemed to get a kick out of it. ^_^ it was the first time i'd ever displayed anything made by me to more than just a group of friends... it was rather exciting...

Yeah same here...I have only entered one other con (actually two but no one ever said they saw my vid at AWA so it doesn't count) the one I did enter was only on a tv I think. So this was first time being on big screen. People at school said they saw it, so thats really cool...I'm guessing it was big screen because I don't know how else they would of seen it. Another reason why I put my real name instead of tash :D They would of never known I made it.

I have a feeling you're talking about the Love United vid. that one was shown at the AnimeFURY contest last november, entered for exhibition only I believe, so I assumed it might've been exhibition only at megacon as well.

I don't believe that one was at this contest. there was a video that used the same song, but it was more recent, done by the guys at more than toast, and that one was shown in the contest.

Oh, you're right, my mistake. It was the More Than Toast vid.
Link.
(I think the other one was one of the ones shown between anime; I'll have to download it and see if it's the one I remember.)

I'm curious how they chose what was played as well, since I never saw some videos that would've been amazing, and instead saw many that I was surprised to see "make the cut" in an amv contest like this.

Every creator wants to see their video on the 'big' screen and see the crowd reaction. So this year EVERY entrant that followed the rules had at least one of their videos shown. If you submitted 2 videos, the best of the 2 were shown, unless both were superior, they both got shown.

I wish I would have known that was the way it was going to work, cause I would have just sent one video. As it went, my video that I spent maybe 10 hours on and in my opinion is mediocre got shown. And the one I spent 45+ hours on and all the people I've shown it to say is awesome didn't get shown.

I know it's your contest and you have the right to run it in whatever way you choose, but it would have been nice to know about that ahead of time. I don't really see any point in submitting two videos to a contest if they're only going to show one of them unless they are "amazing."

Too late to do anything about it now obviously. :) But I figured I'd express my opinion on the matter. No big deal anyway...just means I can premiere my better video at another con.

We have such a limited time, I really wish I could have a VAT and show them all... maybe in '05.
