2004 VCA WINNERS!

Postby rubyeye » Mon Feb 16, 2004 9:33 pm

Interesting...only 10 videos this year and "Euphoria" wins the most categories to date (5). Wonder if there will be a day when one video gets at least half of the total # of categories.

CONGRATULATIONS....you lucky bastards!!

I believe Ian also won 5 videos last year with "Shameless Rock Video." Just figured I'd inflate another ego ;).

Nah, just 4 - but then again I was only entered into one genre category rather than Euphoria's three :P

Perhaps what I remembered was that you won five awards and one was "Helping Hand." I guess I forgot about that and automatically assumed it was a video -_-;;.

I retract said statement, U4IA remains teh KING!!!!1111 ;)

I think it's retarded that ONE video meant to be put in ONE category can get nominated for so many different categories. It's like Ian's loyal fans are all 'DIS ONES GOTTA GET HERE AND HERE AND HERE AND HERE AND HERE CAUSE ITS GOOD AND STUFF!!oneone!!!!eleven!!'

(insert a large and pointless amount of ranting here)

Ian's already apologized for the whole "character profile" thing.

Besides, it's not his fault that people don't take the time to read the award descriptions before nominating videos.

It's tough to hate a guy like that. I admit it really isn't his fault.

What topic did he apologize in?

You know your tastes are different when: None of the videos/people you voted for won. Ouch.

Seriously though, I don't think the results were very good. It was very much a popularity thing in my opinion. The only one I agreed with was "The World She Knows" getting Best Character Profile, since it is a very good video. Besides that, meh.

So are you trying to imply that all the winning videos were thus "not very good?" That's what I gather from this statement. Feel free to disagree with the results, but that came across as pretty mean to all the winners including myself.

Indeed. Would you rather the end-of-the-year awards be chosen by judges so you can complain about elitism?

There was a two-step process in choosing the winners, and several thousand people all had their say. Not only is it insulting to the creators that you wrongfully badmouth their videos, but it's insulting to the voters when you say that this was nothing but a popularity contest.

Nope, I can't argue that any of the choices were not superb videos. Sometimes mis-classified, yea, but superb vids nonetheless.

Shockingly, I find myself agreeing with this statement. But to me, they were mis-classified a 'lot'. The videos...yeah...some were good, some were great...but I couldn't find any really outstanding vids in there, except maybe one from the dance category and one from the drama. (don't remember their names, damnit  )

As for Euphoria, I didn't even bother to watch it.
