AMV rules for various cons!

Hey Everybody!

I'm planning to submit at least 1 AMV to NDK (NDK.CC) this year and expand to other cons as time goes on. I've been waiting for the rules for NDK's AMV contest for awhile and I have not gotten them yet... So I thought I'd ask what are the rules of some AMV contests around the country... like AX, Sakura con, and so on?

What do you know?
Thanks,

you might want to take a look at the rules for Otakon, which I posted recently.

not every con follows these rules, but these could serve as a rough guideline for you.

NDK? Nan Desu Kan? Do you live in the Denver area? I do, and I'd be interested in the contest rules as well.

This is in the wrong forum, this thread should be in AMV Contests.

Generally, if you check that forum, links to contest rules will be posted as they're finalized, as well as reminders of due dates and so on.

yea NDK! I have no idea what the rules are for this year, but the last 2 years they were almost the same. 3 vids could be entered per creator. None of them could have explicit violence/gore, and no nudity. and they preferably should be under five minutes long. Videos could be entered on vhs or on cd-rom. There was also a 5-dollar charge to enter if you weren't going to be showing up to the convention. These are the only rules I could remember right now . . . so, I hope this helps you out.

Thanks... I live in Albuquerque, NM, I heard this year they had to be in AVI format, and I'm sorry if this is the wrong Place.

THANKS

Well, I haven't heard anything about them having to be in AVI format, but it very well may be possible. But I truly would have no idea, do to the slowness of the updates to the NDK website. So, who knows.

Best way to find out the rules, is to actually visit the convention website, or contact the AMV coordinator.

I submitted two videos to NDK7 (last year's) in MPEG-2 format, so unless they've changed that since then...

By the way, does anyone know what happened to NDK7's Asukas?

Hey! What vids did you submit to NDK last year? And about the Asukas . . . well I got mine, but I was the only one who was actually there to accept it.

"The NERV Evening News with Dan Rather" and "Haruko the Superfreak", and yeah, I wasn't there, 'cause NJ to CO is kind of an expensive trip...

Oh, awesome! Those two videos were incredibly great! Especially The Nerv Evening News. I truly felt honored at the con that I was able to have some of my vids shown with yours and some of the others (like Uncle Milo, and Tom the Fish).

Awesome vids! I was NDK last year and saw them. I've been looking for that Super Freak video for a while. Now I got it!

Dammit, I wasn't trying to hijack the thread.

To get back on topic, the rules for NDK7's AMV contest can be found here. I doubt they'll change much for this year.

no worries Hijack away:

hey I Emailed the person in charge of AMVs for NDK about the rules of the AMV contest and this is the responce:

"I don't have the 2004 rules done yet but I can essentially tell you they will be similar to the 2003 rules with a couple exceptions. We will only be taking submissions as avi or mpegs. No tape. No DVD. Keep it under five minutes if possible. Don't over compress. We should have the 2004 rules up by January. Let me know if you have any specific questions."
- Wynette

I musta forgotten the avi or mpegs part oh well. I really enjoyed the videos last year infact that's what inspired me to get into the Game. So thanks to everyone.
Thanks,
