The Otakon deadline was at the end of May... that's a lot more than 4 days ago.
Hey Matt I would like a ruling on something.
Let's say that a video submitted to Otakon Just won an award This Past weekend (6-14-03), and We have yet to review it.
More so, let's say that this video has won 3 awards already (two previous to this weekend).
Is it DQ'd or would we just put that it is trolling in the comments section when we actually DO review it?
Also, exactly WHAT constitutes trolling. Winning before the pre-screening review, winning before the contest deadline, wining before sending a vid in to a contest at all, or a combenation of these?
Well, I thought I'd say something on this as well since I am running two contests and some videos entered have already previous awards recently
Eveyone has an opinion on what exactly trolling is.. With all the conventions going on at once, I think trolling has to be redifined a bit. Personally, I think all the videos are being sent out to the various contests in the hopes of making the cut at one or a few.. Then all of a sudden they start to win at several..So them what! What if the video was submitted to a contest and won after the deadline else where and the other contest is in the process of judging already.. So it if fair to start "Yanking" videos out of the judging... I look at it this way, If you win multiple contests after the deadline then that's the way it is... Quite frankly, even if you win before at a contest but have not entered any other contests, then why can't you send it in to one other unless the rules spell it out..
Quite frankly the reason for me sending a video to a con is so the audiance SEES it.. And it's nice to have a few cons screen it so that udiances in different areas get to see it... I always thought that winning to most creators what not as important as having it screens, so why all of a sudden has it become such a problem? Now I can see if a video is sent in to say 6 or 7 contests over a streatch of a year...
I suppose if you start to looking at trolling as winning more than once, then trolling by some could also be defined as the very tallented editors always making the cut with thier videos and depriving others from having thier videos screened....
So my point is, everyone has a definition of Trolling and it may not agree with someone elses... I would say the important part for us creators is to have a resonable screening opportunity at a few cons of our videos... Winning is just iccing on the cake it should really mean that muck not matter how ofter it happens to a resonable linit of course...
