Otakon 2003: Sizing up the Competition...

This forum is for the announcement and discussion of anime music video contests.

Oh is there a rule about this like X cons or Y awards? I haven't won anything with it, but it did Premiere at another con.

Nah, trolling rules only get enacted when people have won with the vid before the prejudging starts (which is how a vid can win at AX and Otakon but not ACen and Otakon).

Maybe you weren't perverse enough in your creation of a bad video, and didn't actually cause people pain. Apparently there are so many masochists in the world....

I dunno, I had beta viewers asking for their minutes back and wanting their eyes gouged out....maybe I just did it too well =P

1) Yep!
2) Romantic/Sentimental
3) Well with all the amazing talent this year, I'd say 150!

I'm not that proud of my entry because some cuts last too long and such, but I think I still have a chance. I'm working on a new video for Shoujocon that I would've liked to have entered into Otakon but oh wells. Anywayz I hope to see so many fantastic entries and people at the pre-screenings and convention!

Answering the questions:

1) Yes.
2) Romantic/Sentimental (specifically, Heartbreak, and that's all I'll say)
3) hmm... that's a toughie, due to the online submissions. I don't think it'll make that much of a difference, so I'll say 140.

What is "heartbreak?" Like it's a video about the loss of love? I don't think that's romantic at all IMO :-P It's sad if anything :(

I had the same question when I sent in my form... but I figure, hell, if they consider "heartbreak" fitting for the "Romantic/Sentimental", that's their deal. Works for me. I think of it this way: a heartbreak video is still a romance video... just... the negative, evil, bad side of romance. :)

That makes sense...although I would've said heartbreak=drama/serious since it's more "dramatic" then romantic...I see romance as well...happy, triumph and so on.

At the same time, as I said...this makes sense as well...just not as much :-P

2) Drama/Serious: BRING IT ON JAY!
3) 180. I'm shooting high because of all the WMVs I anticipated were uploaded to Quu's server at the last minute ;)

Well knowing you SO well...it's obvious that you submitted into Drama/Serious since well...ALL of your videos are to slower music and dramatic yet simple :-P

Hmmm...

1. Yes, obviously
2. Upbeat/Rhythm (Though they could put me in Romance if they didn't want to take the category TOO seriously)
3. I'd say around 125 or so entries.
