To have a contest that you are given a song that you have to use in a amv. Then you have a month to make. It could be called AMV Challage. :?:
Many minds in this head.

Or Challenge.

I'd pity the judges who would be forced to sit through 20 or more videos using the same song. I still have twitchy flashbacks to MTV's "Madonna Says Make My Video" contest.

Does anyone remember when Vulture did something like this for A-kon's AMV Contest several years ago?

The song he picked was an oldie: Chubby Checker's "The Twist". I was at A-kon that year and I thought each of the 3 contestants' entries were pretty good (amazingly).

I can't recall which one won but I think there was one to Various Anime, one to "Kimagure Orange Road", and one to Sam Raimi's "Army of Darkness" [I guess since Bruce Campbell was GOH at A-kon that year it was allowed].

However, having also seen the "Harvey the Wonder Hamster" project, the repetition gets old fast. Unless it's a song that's easy to learn so the audience can sing along with it. ;-)

It could get a bit repetitive. Plus I think that creators don't do as good a job when the music is forced on them.

I wondered about contest ideas myself though. Just for fun, people of the org forums could organize some, say, tournaments where videos go head to head and people vote for one or the other to advance to the next round. I believe radio stations do it, even TV music stations... so why not have something like that for AMV's? That could be fun. But that's just a random idea I'm tossing out into the cosmos... see if you like it.
