OTAKON 2003 Deadline 5/31

Postby Cybermat » Wed May 07, 2003 11:56 am

Just a quick plug and reminder about the Otakon AMV Contest

The deadline for submissions to be received is Saturday 5/31. Check out the submission guidelines at http://www.otakon.com/happenings/happenings_amv_rules.html

New for this year: online submissions courtesy of Otaku Video at http://contest.otakuvideo.com/! Deadline is the same as for mail-in submissions.

Questions can be sent to the contest coordinators at "amv2003 at otakon dot com" (spamproofed).

The (optional) Theme for this year is Nostalgia because it's Otakon's 10th Anniversary (OTAKON X - The Movie). We'll be taking a look back at the last 20 years of Anime Music Videos at the AMV Panel.

Damn, should've remade the FLCL vid then...

Well, you'll find my *editing* nostalgic if nothing else. Let's hope people find it so in a good way...

Workshop should be interesting, too.

Wow what luck. The video I submitted has some very Nostalgic tones to it.

Also, any word on when the submission forms for trailers/parodies will be up?

Young Punks on Bikes is going to be my entry.

What better way for me to celebrate nostalgia?

Hotel sierra.

Wish I could attend this...be a heck of a shindig with all us old farts holding court.

Hell, I'd even be up for teleconferencing my way into it!

Damn. Now I'm halfway wishing I weren't working on finishing up something new and was instead actually going to send in the remaster of one of my older videos as I'd thought I would be needing to do. Oh well. Still a chance of that, if Dai-Osaka Rap is deemed to be a parody and not an AMV and WLtFO wins something at ACen...

What's the number of entries like this year? :) A downpour or a mere trickle?

I'd liken it to a dam bursting...trickle at first, then a deluge at the end.

No idea if it's really the case, but it's a grand image.

^_^ yeah I bet they love it! Up to their eyeballs in digital submissions to convert!

Actually, I think the video entries peaked a couple years back and then was down last year. At least that was what I heard happened last year I think. I could be wrong.

Of course most of them are probably like me....if I actually submit one, it'll be last minute post-marked just-in-time tax day style!

Wow, my submission fits the optional theme perfectly, and I submitted it long before I even knew there was a theme... what a kowinkydink.
