Just wanted to check in. I have yet to receive a personal reply in regards to my Expo entries and I wanted to know if there was anything on my part that needed to be done with them.

I completely underestimated the amount of "getting back to things" I'd need after my vacation. If there's any problems, I'll be in touch, but if you got the automated reply, you can be pretty sure we have your video and everything was AOK.

After shrugging off working on content for my youtube channel today I'd say I'm now about 85% done with my pro entry. Looks like I should make the deadline if I spend tomorrow night working on it as well. Was hoping for 2 entries, but after technical difficulties I'm not sure that's going to happen.

Work's kicked my ass a bit for the past month. Only spent maybe 5-6 hours editing for Pro. Probably not going to happen this year.

What's the word on file formats? The actual upload form says "must be in MP4 format", but the rules page gives guidelines for other formats as well (I am specifically thinking Matroska or MKV so that I can include FLAC audio).

Since I didn't see any information on bitrates and other details I just assumed they'd take any bitrate provided the picture quality is good. With ZarxGUI I set the mode to Constant Quality and the Quantizer to 15, Then audio to FLAC. I set the level to 4.1 on the advanced tab (since there are problems that pop up when I use Unrestricted) and then set the aspect ratio to 16:9 (even though the video is using 1280x720 with square pixels) since I want to make sure the AR flag is right. They didn't mention anything about 10-bit video compatibility so I made sure to leave it at 8-bit video to be safe.Scintilla wrote:What's the word on file formats? I wasn't asking about bitrates etc.; I just want to know if I can submit in a format that's not .MP4, since the two pages contradict each other on this.

In that case I would go with what is on their website. If it AAC use mp4. If it's FLAC then mkv.Scintilla wrote:I wasn't asking about bitrates etc.; I just want to know if I can submit in a format that's not .MP4, since the two pages contradict each other on this.
