The contest is open to all participants. Although it is strongly encouraged participants in the contest be attendees, attendance is not a requirement for entry. The only exclusion for entry is the direct staff / judges of the Anime Crossroads MV staff. All other Anime Crossroads staff are allowed and encouraged to enter. Please read and understand all the rules listed below. If there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to email your questions to the Anime Crossroads MV coordinator ( all contact information will be listed at the very end)

What can I enter?
A video production work of editing, mixing audio sources(any audio, mainly music) and video sources.There are no content requirements for this contest. Your videos may contain any type of footage you see fit to use, provided it doesn’t fall into one of the categories for disqualification.

The allowable footage types include but not limited to the following:
* Anime
* Manga
* Video games(both Japanese and Non-Japanese)
* Live Action
* Non-Japanese Cartoons(Avatar The Last Airbender/Korra, My Little Pony, ect...)

Each person is only allowed to send in 3 videos. If your part of a MEP you wish to send and already hit the 3 video limit please message me and we'll discuss from there. Also all videos submitted in previous contest are not allowed. While not a rule if your video has won more then 3 major awards in other AMV/MV Contest before entering Anime Crossroads I strongly suggest sending another video instead. This way we get to see more new content. However I'm not going to say you can't enter if that the only video you want to enter.

Where can I enter?
At this time we are only accepting digital entries via file sending sites such as http://www.sendspace.com or other such sites that do not require a membership to download the files or thru your own web hosting site. For more information please look at our “How do I Enter?” section of the rules.

*Do not send me a link to your video on the Org or Youtube*

As the contest will be judged prior to the convention, no entries can be accepted at Anime Crossroads in person.

Do we REALLY need to have that black space before and after? Honestly I really don't want to have to dig out my backups and encode a new copy...

Also if you submitted to AWA Pro and the video is PG-13 or under just give me your video # so you don't have to re-send it. Unless you are sending a updated version of that video.

Is 848x352 non-letterboxed an accepted aspect ratio?

Yes, honestly as long as it doesn't look like crap, it good to go. Also just no letterboxing in general.

Actually...considering that is wider than 16:9 you'll need to letterbox that for showing it at the con.

No because letterboxing makes it look too small on the screen now. Unless something change with how they project the videos onto the screen without telling me... again....

If there is a issue I will make sure it fixed way before the con. I really shouldn't be trying to answer anything right now since I can barley think straight. At this point I'm about ready to say send it all as 640x480 or 640x352 for widescreen :awesome:

Still thanks, I'm still a bit of a novice running this thing so I'll keep this in mind.

848x352 is cropped footage from a movie that is 2.35:1, which is wider than 16:9 widescreen.

The footage is almost always stored letterboxed (on like DVDs and Blu-rays), otherwise the footage would be squished.

Example:

So yeah...unless you plan on destroying the AR of the video, you probably should letterbox it...unless of course you are playing from a PC and don't plan on re-encoding any of the videos.

Yes everything playing form a PC now and I don't plan on re-encoding since there no need for that anymore.... we use to use DVD and I would require all videos to be in letterbox till last year when it was switch over. So his video should be fine.

Should have mention that from the get go... see this is why I shouldn't answer post in the middle of the night.

No stress, though I would suggest sending a PM next time over commenting about it on the forums. Also I've been running this for 4 years now, while I say 'novice' I do know what I'm doing.

One of the videos in my AMV was only available with subs. Will that effect me in any way?
