A-Kon 24 VSE: FINAL WEEK-Deadline May 6 (extends to May 13)
Welcome to A-Kon's 24th AMV Contest
(or Video & Special Events, as we've been calling it)
This year we are moving to our new home at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, but luckily for you our event rules and submission guidelines will remain the same as before. Everything can be found on the website. Details are under the F.A.Q. page as well as for each contest (Standard or Masters). We will be doing the miniVENT showings as AMV contest intermissions again this year. So anything not directly competing with "anime" music videos would fall into this category (i.e. short films, trailers, original animation, video game content, etc.). These videos are still restricted to the same time limit per event. One of the main judging criteria will be your effective use of time, so in the case of "short films" for the Masters contest....please don't go overboard .
You must register/log-in to enter your submission information, before the May 6th deadline. You can upload your video at a later time, provided we have your submission form before that date.
And as always, please post any questions or concerns you have and I will try to answer them as best I can. Good luck everyone, and I hope to see some of you at A-kon this summer.

What category should animation that is not "anime" go? Other?
EDIT
Also getting the same error message as Tritio is below.

I'm having problems with the upload. It keeps sending me the 'Error' message, even after checking everything was fine with the requirements of the files

The Category of choice is simply your best description of what the video is, i.e. Comedy, Parody, Horror, etc.BasharOfTheAges wrote:What category should animation that is not "anime" go? Other?

If you are using footage that is not "anime", then you would choose the Submission Type which describes your source material, like game footage, original animation, live action, etc.
If you are using animation that is not specifically Japanese animation, then you may choose "Other" or "Music Video - Anime" (if it is a music video). During judging we will be shifting videos around into their appropriate spots if we need to.
Can you describe exactly what kind of error message you are getting? Is it related to the status of your submissions? I will inquire but it's possible the server may just be undergoing maintenance. You could try uploading again to see if it will accept.TritioAFB wrote:I'm having problems with the upload. Before the upload bar finishes, it suddenly crashes and redirect to a Error Message that says:
Something went wrong during the upload. Contact the administrator for support, something like that
AT my case, it finally uploaded the videos after 4 tries

I filled out the form, and they fixed it for me. I think they have a back-end limit on server space that they have to keep cleaning out.

Re: A-Kon 24 VSE: FINAL WEEK-Deadline May 6 (extends to May
It's that time again when we need everyone to start getting your vids registered and uploaded for the contest. We're very light on submissions this year, but like always - there is always the late rush.
The deadline is technically May 6th but things will remain up through May 13th for everyone who might be running a bit behind. Good Luck!

Were finalists ever listed or notified for this? I checked the website, but apparently they don't even have forums there to ask on. The VSE info pages don't have MRS notes on them any more either, so I'm kinda clueless as to where I should be looking.
