OTAKON 2003 AMV

Postby Cybermat » Sun Mar 02, 2003 1:59 pm

Otakon 2003 will be on August 8-10 in Baltimore, Maryland. Submission deadline for music videos is Saturday May 31, 2003. Full rules will be posted on http://www.otakon.com shortly.

Changes from last year: Otaku Video will be doing our digital conversions & tape mastering (Thanks, Quu!) and providing FTP submission capability for those who can't mail in a tape or a disc. Also, new postal mailing address for AMV submissions.

FAQs:
    * You need not attend Otakon 2003 to participate.
    * All submissions will be screened at the con.
    * All submission materials are retained by Otakon AMV and cannot be returned.
    * Contest finalists will be selected by Otakon staffers, the AMV submitters themselves, and some local anime clubs.
    * Contest winners will be selected by balloting open to all members of Otakon 2003.
    * We love getting fan-made anime movie trailers and commercials to screen with the fan parodies but they can't compete in the music video contest.
Questions and suggestions to amv2003 at otakon dot com. Please be patient awaiting our reply, thanks.

A weekend at Otakon can cost as little as your transit costs and as much as you can possibly imagine. It all depends on factors such as whether or not you're willing to gofer for Otakon (work a bunch of hours for the con and get free registration, comp for crash space, etc....not recommended due to staff abuse) or shell out.

I plan on being there and am organizing a prereg group should anyone want $5 off on their registration. PM me for details.

Oh good... there will be at least two AMVs then.

We haven't received hardly any entries as of yet...

Nope, no rules on the official page yet, but the deadline is May 31 so there still quite a bit of time... I'll be there and yes, I'll be entering into the contest once again... I have a rather interesting video this year so wi'll see how it does.

I should have an entry as well, assuming work on my ACen entry doesn't drag out for too long. It's been a while since I've done a drama video, it should be interesting if nothing else :?

Why can't anime trailers be part of the contest? They're parodies!
