Does using another editor's Ponyvids count toward the 75% or the 25%?

Being an editing competition using pre-edited sources I'd say PMVs will count under the 75% but situations like this are going to be the discretion of the judges as there is not yet a hard guideline regarding PMVs. This is the first public run so likely there will be some bumps in said road like this. But IMHO that's going to make things interesting. Make no mistake, there are ponies on this side of the fence as well.

Cecco, sweet deal!
But remember, this is a editing competition using other peoples sources so previewing before the release date can give your competitor an advantage. Also, YOINK

I personally would say since MLP isn't Japanese animation, it would depend on if the original video you are editing from was enough anime to qualify as an AMV. Considering the org say a video has to be a majority anime, that would mean the video has to be at least 50% anime. I would say even if you make the video using only MLP footage for the 75% part, but it was from videos that qualify as AMVs, then it would be fine, but if you use straight up PMVs it would not be fine. Basically, if it qualifies to be on the org, it's fair game.

That's my opinion at least...I would also say the same applies to ANY footage that isn't Japanese animated. Now the problem after that is...it then wouldn't qualify to upload to the org, lol...

Well, the previous kings and I have spoken and it seems we'll qualify an "AMV" as being a music video comprised of animated sources.

While this is in direct contest to the ORGs rules on the content of an AMV, the existence of the 25% miscellaneous (or "garbage rule") exits for inclusion of live action footage, internet memes, video game footage, or really anything you can dream up. Have fun and derp hard. That's the name of the game

So in short, yes. The 75% content can include ponies, with the minor exception that we ask the majority of the content (2/3 or so, no hard rule here yet) still be comprised of anime sources.

FTP is not going to happen this year, so for now drop videos here:

After the deadline has expired the judges will be collecting the videos and you should know the results in just a few days |:>

Is there any way the judges in the past have ranked or rated videos to decide the winner, or is that something the current judges need to discuss and decide?

Usually it was whatever made us derp the hardest, or just filled us with Lulz.. Seriously...

you should see some of the old derpfest that won KOS. I think it's truly a competition that never took itself serious and that's why we loved it sooo much. that and it used to be an excuse to see what abominations could come from 7 days of binge drinking and editing. For Realz.

Figured entertainment value was the most important factor, but I had to ask ;)
