Yes, this should be fine. You could also do a title slate that says something to the effect of:

(not really)

One final question (and thanks as always for the effort you put in and for keeping an eye on the boards on deadline day). I am running 16:9 (848x480), but I have not tried encoding to MPEG-2 with those settings before. Is it alright to send you the audio track and video track separately (just to make sure I don't throw the whole thing off sync)? Thanks again.

Got my entry in last night. However, I've been tipped off that another entry could be using the same anime source -- and almost the same title -- as mine..... *shudder* I hope the pre-screeners will still look favorably on my entry! :)

Yes I see you uploading the separate files. Don't worry, I will scale it correctly.

BTW: Thanks VicBond for being very responsive on these last few days. Your hard work is definitely appreciated.

We're down to the wire guys! Only a few hours left to finish uploading. I'll be looking forward to the final stats of the contest :-)

I seriously almost forgot that today was the last day to submit. That would have been an absolute tragedy.

Honey, I'm home.

After three God damn years, I finally submitted a vid again to Otakon. I am a happy man today. I need a drink.

Quick note, Vic, I uploaded two vids on the site, one avi, the other mpeg2. I'd first uploaded the avi before rereading the guidelines and noticed the mpeg2 conversion thing. So, I made an mpeg2 and sent that one in as well. Same video, different formats basically. Just choose whichever version you find best. I didn't notice any difference, personally.

Also, the brief narration was a part of the song's track on the album. Just to get that out there.

I'll be damned if we chose the exact same song!

I remember this happening ten years ago when 2 editors sent in comedy videos with the same song (but with different sources). If we both make the cut, this would be one heck of an omen!

I know this one, my second year at Otakon. Denis Leary - Life's Gonna Suck. Both entries reached the finals.

Just when you think everything is working out your way, things take an abrupt turn.

I forgot I left in a single CNN logo in one clip. So I had to make an all new graphic to replace the one for it. Once I made THAT mpeg, I tried uploading again. This one took 50 minutes to finally upload thanks to the connection moving at a crawl. I'm not even sure if it uploaded correctly. It's listed there, but I'm not sure if it's working. You'll have to check it out to make sure Vic. God, here's hoping.

Do I need to censor one instance of the word "fatass" (or at least the "ass" part)?

OK, Krigen and I are on the same internet connection. Problem: it sucks right now.

We spent many hours earlier today trying to get the MPEG2 to render right, but it wouldn't no matter what, so we were planning on just sending the UTVid AVI's, but it's moving at snails pace, with speeds falling at a consistent rate (probably from everyone else trying to upload their entries, and will be 5 or 6 AM by the time hers alone is done, and that still leaves me out.)

Backup plan: Gonna render them as tiny nice neat little H264's, send em in. Hope too much quality won't be lost.

Vic, if you are gracious enough to allow it, we can send you the super-high-quality UTVids later.

I need to stop fretting over this. Whatever happens happens. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully, I'll see you all there at the con. Good night.

Heh. I would be EXTREMELY surprised if you chose the same song. My song and source are not a conventional pairing at all. I think you're safe in that regard 8-)

Like Davis51, I'm going to submit mine as h264s because it was going to take ~5 hours to upload the avi. I ended up censoring the audio just to be safe.

Edit: So please pay no mind to the aborted avi file I uploaded -_-;; I wasn't able to delete it from the ftp.
