If I had to give out a Judge's Choice Award, mine would go to Jadecharm for Fame. The choreography/lip sync was just beautiful and it was a great video that shows us that dance videos can have a pretty solid concept outside of just basic dancing. A few editing "quirks" here and there that bugged me, but overall it was just a fantastic piece. [Also, it's freaking viral at my office. One of my coworkers got into my AMV playlist and saw it, thinking it was a cartoon Backstreet Boys music video from the 90's. xD]

Thank you!!Radical_Yue wrote:Fun times :3
My judges choice would have to go to Artistic Anarchy by Echotrooper. Easily one of my favorite videos of the year

Just comparing notes we, judges, gave in action category, I feel like there should be, if possible, a final discussion between judges to "fix" things... I mean, reading all sheets, I judge feel like Ringleader is a winner by default, judges' ops are just so different.
I give a 7 to Puella Royale when S.A.Robert give it a 2, it's just nonsense, for sure each one judges vids his own way but just considering all marks with mathematics is not enough. I dont' mean I was right giving it a 7 but S.A.Robert and me should be able to discuss why there is such a difference in our common judgement...
Anyway, about special prizes :
"The potential editor of the year that we all forgot" : Kitty&Galia (I blame myself for not having thought to add them in finalists)
"The fucking great vid that uses shitty French song" : Puella Royale - Warlike Swans (read : it's possible to make people appreciate a vid with music they dislike)
"The editor who'll never win best Action despite he deserves it" : Dn@
And MimS' choice : Odissey - Heroes of Tomorrow

Rank voting like the kind used here does allow for some interesting voting strategies. You essentially have degrees of up-votes and down-votes or kill votes to take others out of the running with.

I am open to better ideas~ ^^BasharOfTheAges wrote:Rank voting like the kind used here does allow for some interesting voting strategies. You essentially have degrees of up-votes and down-votes or kill votes to take others out of the running with.
I haven't read much about voting strategies, I am afraid, so any idea that's reasonable and would help to make this... interesting, or "more fair" (however you feel that term should be taken wwww) is welcome~
I have already separated the voting sheets because of fear that looking at other's sheets, even unconsciously, can alter your decisions a bit. We're only human after all ^^;;

There's variety which is something appreciated.
But for example, if you ask me, my judging methods are not based in how popular a video is, neither if it has effects or not. I based them in terms of creatives components, and review ability, which is very important, because I found several videos that were good technically, but that lack review ability.
To the rest of judges:
I was curious also about that difference between the rankings, perhaps we need to talk which parameters you used for judging

it isn't bad perse, so long, of course, as those voting with such a system have the primary motive of participation in an exercise and not one to game the system so that their views are the ones expressed in the end. All boils down to trust in the people judging.Nya-chan Production wrote:I am open to better ideas~ ^^BasharOfTheAges wrote:Rank voting like the kind used here does allow for some interesting voting strategies. I, as a judge, for example admit that I was totally unphased by PencilHead - it bored me to no end at most parts - and as such it got maybe lower scores at places than it should've gotten. But well, it didn't stop it anyway, which I guess is fine~
