It’s “freezing” February & hope you’re all staying warm. A-Kon 22 is scheduled for June 10-12, 2011 .... but here at VSE central, we’re open for business and ready to receive your Anime Music Videos and Short Films. {Yes, we’ve brought back “short films”, for you aspiring filmmakers out there}

Submission Deadline is May 14, 2011.

This announcement is early to give everyone who wishes to enter enough time to work on your winning entries. If you’ve entered A-Kon before, it should all be pretty familiar. Just follow the rules laid out on our site, login to your account and submit/upload your video.

If this is your first time to enter at A-Kon, you can find all the important information you need to know in our F.A.Q. page. For any additional questions feel free to post here and I will try to answer them.

Good luck folks!

FYI .... Those of you in the North Texas area, don’t forget about Mini A-Kon IV: February 26th @ the North Branch Library in Denton. See you there :)

Just a head's up. Your listings for last year's contest aren't around anymore and the only listings you gave of them in threads on here were links back to your listings on the site. Since nobody seems to keep good contest listings any more, we're loosing more and more of this history as time goes on.

Yes. Just watch your time limit.

Right now, it's a resource issue. Once we upgrade the server, we'll have some additional options and be able to convert the DB to unicode so it doesn't corrupt table spaces when folks use foreign characters. The old DBs are saved so they can be re-input later on. But it may not happen this year because the site is on a feature lock down pending some template code we have to use next year.

You could dump them into a thread here for posterity sake if you have them around. Even if the directory ( viewtopic.php?f=5&t=78943 ) hasn't been updated for 2 years, there's still the search feature.

Is "short film" the same as "music video with original live action" for you?

For our purposes it is, since short films/live-action content do not compete directly with Anime Music Videos, they are relegated to our miniVENT showings and will compete in that category. So if you want to film an original live-action music video and enter it, you would submit it as a "short film" - though it is a music video it's not an Anime music video (even if you include anime cosplayers, like we've had from one talented group of filmmakers).
