From 10 plus year veterans of AMVs to some new to AMVs and several stops in between. I would love to have more editors on the panel but ...thing is... most of you are in the contest which automatically disqualifies you as being one of the judges.

Explain the Bakemonogatari video with the subtitles and no action in the Action category?

DigitalPanther wrote: - Yes the Zetsubo Sensei and Persona 4 vids were a mistake. We have learned from it. To the point where if we see a vid that looks too perfect, (as a few did this year) we go find the source and compare. There have been a few that we have had to do that with. You will notice that we have allowed time between processing and the start of judging to be able to do that very thing. Check source in the hope of preventing a repeat of those incidents.

Good to know.

DigitalPanther wrote:Radical Yue brings up some very valid points. As she had in the past. I attempted to learn and work in as much of what made sense from all of your collective feed back as I could. We do actually listen believe it or not. ;)

Also good to know :P

DigitalPanther wrote:Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that not all of the judges are "anime fans and nothing more".

Just curious :P Who are some of the editors that you use as judges? I want to check out their past works. You've already said xstylus but he only had 2 videos back in 2002 and 1999...

s0matic wrote:The points and complaints are incredibly valid imo, and I shared some of those concerns. To be fair though, the circumstances are a bit different, and the manner in which these points were brought up last year weren't necessarily "constructive."

Sank yew :3 AND yes, I am a bit of a rager ;p It usually only happens when I observe bouts of ignorance. IE: rules that needed to be changed years ago, making exceptions to the rules just because you can, defending instances that should be condoned.

I'm a damn harsh mistress but I'm honest |:>

Ugh... that thrice damned "trolling" bullshit. Whoever came up with that pussy "let-the-other-kiddies-have-a-chance-to-win" rule can blow it out their ass sideways. If a vid won a contest anywhere, I hope and pray that the vid creator will do us the honor of sending it to AX. My god does that cowardly rule ever rile me up. AX has no such rule and I hope it never will.

Ooooh memories from last year's thread :awesome:

Straight from the staff, I think this statement justifies everyone who is sending in old videos.

I'm pretty sure the only answer that your going to get is that it was a mistake and nothing else. What do you expect Michael to say really? You should be asking about Death Note Rapsphody if anything. That was a comedy based video in drama, on top of the editing, it won best in show. Did we ever get a proper explanation for that? I don't think so and there's no point in dwelling on it either because it's just pointless to do so now for many stupid reasons.

I have no doubt in my mind that this will literally be an epic AMV contest due to the cash prize, if it turns out to be shitty then I'd really question whats going on with the judging. Though, from the looks of it, that won't be the case this year, considering that confirmation emails went out at lightening speeds on top of the 300 or so record entries this year. Didn't get that last year (or ever) now did we? It seems like Michael is doing his best to learn from the previous years and now that's starting to show. Let's try to keep it at that.

Though knowing you Radical that won't happen and I don't blame ya. Your criticism has shaped things up a bit. :P

Only reason I brought up the Bakemonogatari vid a opposed to the Death Note Rhapsody vid is because after the DNR vid I had hoped to not find anymore major mistakes with the judging. Sadly, the Bake vid proved me wrong.

Please don't think I asked any of those questions with hostility as my intention. I was simply curious about what type of good aspects were found in a video like that to warrant a spot in the finals. One of the number one ways to clear up frustration and confusion is through understanding. Hence my who/why questions about the judging.
I know with NDK, those answers can be provided with no problem....so I don't see any reason why they should create problems here. :p

And yes, I can see they've been, at least, trying to improve. Good to see.

Once more, no malicious intent lol Simple easy to answer question ;).

Also, thanks for the...compliment? :p I'm stubborn, I'll never change and damn proud of it.

I know the staff doesn't mind getting them, but it still really seems like a douche move this year, considering the stakes.
I mean, I'm really hoping that the other entrants have thought this through and realized they don't want to be "that editor" who ends up winning that much cash with a video they happened to have lying around from previous years. Because can you imagine the firestorm THAT would ignite?

I can see it :p
But I wouldn't be ashamed if I was the one who won with an old video. According to xstylus it would been an HONOR for them.

The reason for that quote was because last year everyone was up in arms protecting the ability to send in ridiculously old entries. Well, everyone got what they wanted.

At this point I'm not going to get mad at those who submit old videos considering how hard everyone worked to preserve them. (I was personally against it)

Be careful what you wish for...you just might get it....
