Editing just for the sake of getting money is kind of a douchey move too, it kind of makes me sad how many people are just sending in crap just for money. However this is an AMV contest so let the competing begin! (it's no fun without competition right?)
It's not like your sending in old videos though, that's my point. It's great to send something in if you worked on it for the sake of the contest, but not something that you worked on a few years ago. It's almost like trolling without trolling. If that gives a better explanation.
Hmm...how odd...points that I brought up last year and was yelled at for... Then again, according to certain people all I do is cause "drama."
And I doubt that the judges will think about the age of the video when voting. Hell, Michael encourages old videos as long as they're good.
Besides, if the judges can't tell the difference between videos with absolutely no editing (IE the Persona vid and the Zetsubo Sensei vid) do you REALLY think they're going to know about popular older videos? The average con-goer doesn't know shit about AMVs. Believe me, we played a type of "Name That Tune" with AMVs at NDK...didn't go over so well. Bleach Technique Beat, I.W.I.W.A.L Hold Me Now, Whisper of the Best, etc... none of them could be named without the help of guest editors.
From what Michael has said, a large amount of the judges are just anime fans and nothing more....so yeah, let's see how well they recognize the classics.
Feel free to look back at last year. My main two complaints: Troll-esque videos and the judging.
But then again, maybe I should shut up before someone throws out that lovely "D" word again.
