Momocon's 2nd Annual AMV Exhibition (Watch us LIVE 3/13/11)

Post by Kireblue » Sun Nov 21, 2010 12:27 pm

Hello everyone. My name is Erik Norelus {kireblue}, and I am the assistant director of Momocon's AMV department. Momocon is an annual convention held at Georgia Tech's campus, and it is currently the largest free admission anime/ comic/ sci-fi/ gaming convention in North America. Momocon 2011 will be the con's 7th year in operation, and we are deciding to make espionage and super spies the theme this year (think James Bond, In Like Flint, Austin Powers, etc). We will also be holding our 2nd Annual AMV Exhibition with the purpose of premiering brand new AMVs to Momocon's 8,000+ attendees. The Submission deadline has passed, but you can watch the event LIVE on 3/13/11 from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM by clicking on the following link: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/amvs-momocon. The general rules and guidelines for the exhibition are as follows:

Rules and Guidelines

1)This is not a competition. There are no prizes. The purpose of this exhibition is to give AMV editors old and new a chance to premiere brand new Anime Music Videos in a competition free environment. As an extra challenge, editors are encouraged to create an AMV that corresponds to the theme at Momocon that year. (This is completely optional though). This year the theme is espionage and super spies. And if anyone notices the connection between Momocon's 7th year in operation and James Bond, feel free to incorporate that into your video :-)

2)Due date for the videos is Sunday, February 13 2011.

3)All videos submitted must meet the following requirements:

*Must be under 10 minutes in length
*Must be of reasonable video and audio quality
*Must be family friendly (a good rule of thumb is if it can't be shown on prime time television, it can't be shown at the convention)
*Must not contain water marks that are not inserted by the editor (no cartoon network or adult swim logos!)

4)All submissions must be accompanied with the following info in the message sent to me:

Editor's Name:
Video Title:
Anime Source(s):
(If more than 7 anime sources are used, you can just type "various")
Audio Source and Artist:

*(This info is not required to be in the actual video)

5)At any time we reserve the right to not show a submitted AMV for any reason.

*AMVs will be shown in the Main Events auditorium from 11:30am -1pm on Sunday March 13, 2011.
UPDATE: The AMV Exhibition will be streamed LIVE via Ustream.tv here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/amvs-momocon.

File Formats?

Momocon is able to accept AMVs in a wide variety of file types. Unlike most conventions, Momocon's video rooms have projectors connected to computers instead of DVD players. And because of this, we are able to play most video formats and even HD videos. So if you were looking for a convention to send your HD AMVs, Momocon is just the place. But even so, please do not upscale your videos. If your footage wasn't taken from a blu-ray or was already HD, upscaling it to 720 or 1080p will make it look like crap. The preferred file types are MP4, AVI and MPEG-2, but we also accept WMV, MKV and many more. We strongly discourage submitting QuickTime, Real Media and Flash Video though.

How to Submit?

YouSendit.com
If anyone is interested in participating, the preferred method of submitting your AMV is to send it to kireblueV2@gmail.com via YouSendit.com. A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you within 2-3 days.

Animemusicvideos.org

I assume you still wanna show AMV Salad 4?
Lemme know how I can send you the mpeg2 or "DVD+" copy of it.
Of course, if you wanna show all four of them, I can trim down the credit run times for the first two and send a DVD (total running time: around 85 minutes).
I can also write up a brief synopsis of the project's background if you want to say anything about it.
Email me directly or PM me and we'll work it out... ;)

hey there. ive never submitted anything this way before so bare with me lol. I had a question about the exhibition. Does the video we want to submit absolutly have to follow the spy/espionage theme? Ive made my first amv and just simply want to spread it around to as many as possible. I think this exhibition is a good chance for me to do so. it fits the requirements listed. i just wanted to confirm this before submitting. Thanks for your time and hope to hear a response soon. I can give any details you need on the video in case its needed. Just ask. Thanks again.

Following the current theme is 100% optional, so if you've already finished your AMV, feel free to submit it. I look forward to seeing it. :D

Also, the only info that I need about the video is as follows:

Editor's Name:
Video Title:
Anime Source(s):
Audio Source(s) and Artist(s):

Note: I slightly updated the original post to include this info.

AMV Salad 4 won't actually be shown during the AMV exhibition. I currently have it scheduled during the "MEP Showcase" block which will be on Saturday, March 12th from 7pm - 10pm.

I'm about to pm you with more info

Isn't this the 3rd annual? I remember the theme being old sci-fi two years ago and submitting The Monolith Monsters to it.

:uhoh: yeah..........2 years ago......the exhibition didn't go over too well :sweat: . Momocon only received 3 submissions that year (one which was my "Noein Control" AMV, and one which was your "Monolith Monsters" AMV. And the exhibition only lasted about 10 minutes. So when I joined Momocon's AMV staff last year, Aaron Cuneo (the head of Momocon's AMV department) decided not to acknowledge the previous year. And when we tried it again last year (with the theme being Rock and Roll), the exhibition was a huge success. |:> You can watch some of it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlA1m4CxfRM

This year, the theme is espionage and super spies. Do you plan on submitting something again? Following the theme is completely optional.
