congrats to all that made it in. Looks like a nice contest, as controversal as the list might seem to be, theres still alot of good names in there. can't wait.

Re: 5 videos per category. As an audience member, I already have to sit on hard plastic chairs for two hours after waiting in line for another hour, dealing with some nimrod who keeps trying to cut in front of me every time the line turns and one next to me in the audience who keeps creeping into my personal space.

I do not want to sit on those damn chairs for an extra hour just to soothe some stranger's fragile ego. If I wanted to marathon six hours of AMVs, I'd do it at home in my nice comfy desk chair, with something to drink, and no lines.

Five is enough to give the voters a choice, but not so much that they forget video #1 by the time video #10 is over. It's enough that we get a taste of what's out there without having to sit through an encyclopedic rundown of The Year in AMV. Five is enough.

And as for "wah wah Dancing Vash wah wah lowest common denominator wankity-wank"? Some of us can hear you, y'know. ;)

1) No one's saying that videos that cater to the fans are a problem; after all, the convention does it too

2) There was no dancing Vash in any of the videos submitted this year. :P

I've never liked the way Otakon chooses it's finalists, but then again if you enter into the contest that if what you accept and so there really is nothing to complain about...

Good luck to everyone who did make it and sorry (or not I sure) that I missed out entering after 4 years.... I won't be able to give DW a run for his money so I hope the other 4 videos do just that

I got the privilege of seeing some of the videos outside of one of the showings and there are no bad videos on the finalist list.

Taste is subjective so nobody will agree 100% with any list of the best videos from each category. As long as it is well rounded and represent a good gage of the best videos

Get a fuggin' life already. If you aren't doing videos for fun then go the hell away because you spoil everyone else's fun. There is no need to whine and complain. As Trythil's banner points out, it is a HOBBY.

And this annoys me because this is becomming common be it Otakon or Awa Pro (last year the 'I didn't make it' complaints were much like this) or any of the other big contests.

Can we please simply accept the contest results and move on? None of the coordinators I know of do anything to fix anything. I can say I try my damndest with contests to not have it be exclusively my opinion on what makes the cuts. And I handle much smaller contests than these. Most of the contests out there are rather fair. root for your favorites and love the video you thought was good and won but was not your favorite.
